No, Bryce Eldridge didn’t play today, and there’s no news.  But there were some big hits and a bit of nice pitching on a short day on Tuesday.

AAA: Sacramento 3, Oklahoma City 2

Player of the Game: 3B Casey Schmitt: 2-4, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 HR (4), 1 K

Schmitt took care of all of the River Cats runs over the “Baseball Club” (Yes, that’s Oklahoma City’s temporary name) in the first inning, with his 3-run home run, continuing his hot streak.  Schmitt has a 6-game hitting streak, and all four home runs have come in the last four games.

Other Players to Spotlight:

  • SS Marco Luciano: 2-3, 1 R, 1 2B (4), 1 BB, 1 K, 1 CS (1) – Luciano continues to do his thing, and picked up his first extra-base hit in over a week, since hitting a double on April 7th.  He’s hitting .352 with four doubles (and no home runs or triples).
  • SP Carson Seymour: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K – A great start for Seymour in his fourth of the year.  It’s his longest, at 5.0 innings, and his seven strikeouts are nearly double his previous high (4).
  • CF Ismael Munguia: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 2B (2) – Munguia hasn’t been getting a lot of hits, but both of his only hits over the last five games have been for extra bases (a double and a triple).

Top Prospect Lines:

  • LF Luis Matos: 1-4, 1 R
  • RF Heliot Ramos: 2-4, 2 K

Other Notable Lines:

  • C Blake Sabol: 2-4
  • RP Juan Sanchez: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 0 K

AA: Harrisburg 3, Richmond 2

Player of the Game: 1B Logan Wyatt: 1-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 HR (2)

I know, there’s another name people are looking for, but in terms of game impact, Logan Wyatt with his home run was the biggest hit for the Squirrels.  That’s Wyatt’s second home run of the season through eight games, and as he’s hitting just .200, but is slugging .520.

Other Players to Spotlight:

  • SP Reggie Crawford: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K – Yep, Reggie Crawford finally made his season debut with a nice game.  As always, he’s being held back, with this being his first game of the season it’s very much expected.  Its a good start.
  • CF Grant McCray: 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K – A day off didn’t cool Grant off too much, as he got his first double of the season.  He’s still only hitting .148, so he’s got a ways to get off the interstate.
  • RP John Michael Bertrand: 5.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K – Relief in name only, Bertrand took the lion’s share of the innings and kept Richmond in it.

Top Prospect Lines:

  • LF Victor Bericoto: 0-4, 1 K
  • RF Vaun Brown: 0-3, 1 K

Other Notable Lines:

  • DH Hunter Bishop: 1-4, 2 K

High-A: Scheduled Day Off

Presumably due to scheduling conflicts with the University of Oregon, this day was planned to be off, with a doubleheader coming this weekend.

Low-A: Modesto 14, San Jose 2

Player of the Game: RP Trent Harris: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K

As the only Giants pitcher to really shut down the hit machine that Modesto was this Tuesday night, Harris gets the nod.  Overall, he’s got 7 strikeouts to one walk and no hits allowed in 4.0 innings this season.

Other Players to Spotlight:

  • Bryce Eldridge: DNP – It is disconcerting that even after three days off thanks to rain (plus a game before it), he is still out.  The Giants are not talking about his status, but he also has not been put on the injury list officially.
  • Elian Rayo: 2-4, 2 K – Rayo was the only Giants hitter with more than one hit in the game.

Top Prospect Lines:

  • 2B Cole Foster: 1-5, 1 K, 1 E (2)
  • SS Maui Ahuna: 0-4, 1 BB, 1 E (2)

Other Notable Lines:

  • SP Ubert Mejias: 3.1 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 3 K
