AAA: Scheduled Day Off
AA: Richmond 5, Bowie 2
Richmond Notes:
- Simon Whiteman extended his most recent hit streak to seven games with a 2-hit game. He has hit 11-for-29 (.379), with three doubles over that span, and he has reached Double-A highs in batting average (.259), on-base percentage (.346), and slugging percentage (.378).
- Vince Fernandez now has three doubles over his last five games. He’s now got six on the season, to 13 home runs.
- Bryan Torres has a 9-game hitting streak, which actually goes back to July 3rd. He’s 13-for-32 (.406) with a double and a triple in that span.
- Starter Sean Hjelle had another solid game, allowing just two runs. In 13 games this season, he has a 3.53 ERA, with 65 strikeouts to 17 walks in 58.2 innings.
- Patrick Ruotolo hasn’t allowed a baserunner in four of his past five outings. He’s struck out nine and allowed just one hit over those 4.2 IP.
- R.J. Dabovich had his first perfect inning in relief since July 7th. He now has 22 strikeouts to six walks in 13.1 innings at Double-A Richmond.
High-A: Doubleheader
Game 1: Eugene 2, Everett 0
Game 2: Everett 9, Eugene 6
Eugene Notes:
- Kai-Wei Teng had his best start in quite some time, having a shut out start for just the third time this season, and putting a season-low in hits allowed among full starts (not including the abbreviated one in which he was ejected). He’s held batters to a .234 batting average overall this season.
- Tyler Fitzgerald doubled up on doubles, going 3-for-7 with three doubles on the doubleheader. He’s now got 19 on the season with 11 home runs on the year.
- Carter Aldrete didn’t get a hit in game 1, but collected a pair of hits with a double in game 2. Aldrete has just two doubles on the month of July, but does have five home runs.
- Ismael Munguia picked up a hit in each game, but also picked up two steals in game 2. It’s his first multi-steal game of the season, and gets him 10 steals in 15 attempts on the season. His best season for steals was 2019, when he stole 13 bases in 18 attempts.
- Nick Avila suffered through his worst start of the season, combining a season-high in runs with a season low in innings as a start. His ERA jumped from 6.71 to 7.69.
Low-A: San Jose 4, Inland Empire 3
San Jose Notes:
- Marco Luciano continues to lead the Low-A West in home runs after hitting his 17th. He leads by two over Rancho Cucamonga’s Jonny Deluca, who has 15.
- Jimmy Glowenke hit his second home run in four games, giving him five on the season. Glowenke is having a huge month, and now is batting .337/.443/.618 in July with 10 doubles and five home runs.
- Wil Jensen gave up a season-high-tying seven hits for the second straight game, and also got a season-low one strikeout, but he still kept runs off the board. In five of Jensen’s last six games, he held opponents to two earned runs or less.
