AAA: Tacoma 6, Sacramento 3

Sacramento Notes:

  • Yermin Mercedes had the biggest game in a losing effort, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk.  Mercedes now has 22 games in Sacramento, and has four home runs and two doubles, with a .293 batting average.
  • Catcher Patrick Mazeika went 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his second home run in three games with the River Cats.  Mazeika is now 3-for-12 (.250) with two home runs, and three walks to three strikeouts with his new team.
  • Bryce Johnson went 1-for-4 with his 9th double with Sacramento.  Johnson finished August with a batting line of .353/.425/.412 with just two doubles in 34 at-bats, missing almost two weeks.  He’s 1-for-5 with five walks in the first two games in September.
  • Ronnie Williams went 4.2 innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on three hits, four walks and a HBP.  Williams did get four strikeouts, giving him 15 to nine walks in 17.2 innings.

AA: Richmond 4, Harrisburg 2

Richmond Notes:

  • Landen Roupp had a very nice start, setting a new career-high in strikeouts.  He struck out 10 in 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk.  Roup had has reached nine strikeouts four times previously this season.  He now has 23 strikeouts to four walks in 16.0 innings in three starts at Richmond this season.
  • Casey Schmitt led the Squirrels in hitting, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, giving him eight in Double-A.  In 19 games now, Schmitt has a .373/.420/.627 batting line with eight doubles, one triple, and three home runs with Richmond.
  • Carter Aldrete had the other Richmond extra-base hit, going 1-for-3 with a double.  In Richmond, Aldrete currently has a .198/.239/.347 batting line in 29 games.  
  • Will Wilson went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.  Two games in, Wilson is having a nice start for September, going 3-for-6 with two walks.  

High-A: Eugene 6, Everett 5

Eugene Notes:

  • Hayden Cantrelle went 1-for-4 with his first High-A home run this year in his third game there.  Cantrelle is 2-for-8 (.250) with a double and a home run at Eugene so far.  Cantrelle played 77 games at High-A in the Brewers organization, batting .175/.376/.313 with Wisconsin.
  • Jimmy Glowenke went 2-for-4 with his 14th double of the season.  Glowenke now has three doubles in his last five games, and eight overall in August and the first two games of July.
  • Jared Dupere also was 2-for-4 with a double, his second with the Emeralds.  Through six games at Eugene, he’s 5-for-24 (.208) with two doubles so far.  He was hitting .289/.364/.570 at San Jose in 32 games there.
  • Carter Williams led the Ems in hits with a 3-for-4 day, along with his third steal at High-A this year.  It’s Williams’ second 3-hit game in his last three games, and he’s raised his Eugene batting average from .246 to .271 over that span.
  • Starter Nick Zwack gave up two runs in 5.0 innings, on three hits and three walks while striking out six.  That makes four straight games for Zwack having given up exactly two runs.  Through five starts in Eugene, he has a 4.63 ERA with 31 strikeouts to 12 walks in 23.1 innings.

Low-A: San Jose 13, Stockton 5

San Jose Notes:

  • Giants 2nd round pick Carson Whisenhunt made his Low-A debut and continues to be strong.  He went 2.2 scoreless innings with a pitch limit of 50, allowing just three hits, striking out five.  Overall, Whisenhunt has thrown 5.2 innings between SJ and Arizona, with 12 strikeouts and still no walks allowed.
  • Reliever Jose Cruz struck out four over 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing just a single hit.  In 36 games at San Jose, he has 81 strikeouts to 22 walks in 49.0 innings, and hasn’t been scored upon since August 9th.
  • Yorlis Rodriguez notched his 15th home run of the season, going 2-for-5.  The 2-hit game breaks a 6-game hitless streak for Rodriguez.  His last home run came back on August 18th.
  • Wade Meckler’s run in San Jose continues, as he went 3-for-5 with two doubles.  The 8th round pick has gone 6-for-12 (.500) in four game in San Jose with four doubles, and three walks to two strikeouts.
  • On a day with San Jose having 18 hits, Damon Dues led the team in hits, going 4-for-6 with one double, plus stealing two more bases.  It was Dues’ second day in a row of stealing two bases.  Dues is now batting .375/.574/.469 with seven steals in nine attempts at San Jose.
  • Logan Wyatt has quietly been continuing his comeback at San Jose, and he had his biggest game, going 3-for-6 to collect his first hits in his fourth game back.  Wyatt has gone 3-for-20 (.150) over four games in San Jose.  He hit .234/.308/.234 in 18 games at Arizona.
