Richmond Notes:

  • Diego Rincones had a 2-hit game, his third multi-hit game in September.  Rincones his batting 10-for-30 (.333) on the month, with three walks to five strikeouts.
  • Matt Frisbee took the start for Richmond, allowing four runs, two earned, off of five hits and two walks.  Frisbee gave up another home run, and has given up 27 home runs in total this season: 16 in 53.0 innings at Sacramento, and 11 in 59.2 innings in Richmond.

High-A: Eugene 6, Tri-City 0

Eugene Notes:

  • Jairo Pomares hit his 6th home run of the season in High-A, his second in the last four days.  After 23 games in Eugene, Pomares has a .286/.293/.560 batting line with five doubles, a triple, and six home runs.  He also has struck out 27 times to just one walk.
  • Brett Auerbach hit his second home run in as many days, and third in the last five games.  Auerbach has 15 home runs to go with eight doubles and a triple in 50 games at Eugene, with a .254/.329/.545 batting line.
  • Ismael Munguia had a 2-double day, and has four doubles in his last four game along with a home run.  It’s been an excellent September, with a .338/.369/.505 batting line with four doubles and two home runs in nine games played this month.
  • Marco Luciano hit a double, just his third while with Eugene.  It’s his first double since August 17th.  In September, Luciano has hit just 6-for-34 (.176) with just a double and a triple.
  • Seth Corry’s renaissance continued with 2.1 IP of scoreless ball.  Inf our games since returning from a month off, he’s gone 8.1 scoreless outings with 11 strikeouts to four walks and three hits.
  • The win puts Eugene in the playoffs, and they will join fellow Giants affiliate San Jose in the shortened 2021 postseason.  Eugene will almost certainly face Spokane, who is a half game behind Eugene in the standings, but home field advantage is up for grabs.

San Jose Notes:

  • Luis Matos’ hot streak continues, with his third home run in the last four games.  Matos is 13-for-20 (.650) with three home runs and three doubles over his last five games.
  • Harrison Freed hit his first home run since August 24th, and it couldn’t have been bigger.  Not only was it a 9th inning tie-breaking home run, it was a grand slam, his first grand slam of the season.
  • Patrick Bailey notched his 16th double in San Jose, his fourth in the last five games.  Bailey has had a hot run in September, and is 18-for-46 (.391) with six doubles and two home runs on the month.
  • Prelander Berroa had his shortest start since the start of August, allowing four runs, all earned, and walking a season-high five.  Berroa has 135 strikeouts to 53 walks in 98.2 innings this season.
