ACL Giants Black Notes:

  • Shortstop Anthony Rodriguez went 2-for-6 with his fourth home run, a 2-run home run as part of a 5-run 10th inning rally to win the game.  Rodriguez has four 2-hit games on the season, and is batting .275/.341/.600 through ten total games.
  • Left fielder Harrison Freed played a short game, going 2-for-3 before being lifted for a pinch runner in the 6th inning.  For the 24-year old Freed, he has two multi-hit games in the last three.
  • In relief, Willian Suarez had the biggest pitching performance of the day, striking out seven in 3.0 innings, with just two hits allowed.  Suarez lowered his ERA from 13.50 to 8.22 with this, by far his best performance of the season.  In 7.2 innings this season, he’s struck out 16 to two walks.

ACL Giants Orange Notes:

  • Second baseman 2B Cesar Quintas had the only two hit day on a quiet offensive day, going 2-for-3.  Quintas is batting .219/.278/.250 through ten games after hitting .309/.431/.457 in the DSL last season.
  • Starter Lisander De Las Cruz struck out five in 2.0 innings, allowing just one run on two hits.  It was the first run allowing in four games, in his first start.  He has 11 strikeouts to one walk in 5.2 innings.
  • Reliever Jason Bonilla also had a solid outing, with 2.0 scoreless innings on four hits and two walks, with five strikeouts.  Through three games, he has yet to allow a run, and has six strikeouts to four walks in 4.0 innings.

DSL Giants Black Notes:

  • Right fielder Randy Arrieta had the big hit for the Black team, going 1-for-2 with a triple, his first of the year.  The triple is Arrieta’s first extra base hit of the season in five games, where he’s gone 2-for-10.
  • Catcher Alessandro Duran was 1-for-3 in the game.  Through eight games, he’s 5-for-23 with two walks to three strikeouts, going .217 with a .280 on-base percentage.
  • Starting pitcher Mauricio Estrella gave up just one run in 5.0 innings, on three hits and two walks, with six strikeouts.  In three starts, he’s struck out 15 with five walks in 13.1 innings.

DSL Giants Orange Notes:

  • Left fielder Oswaldo Ladera went 2-for-4 with his second double, and two steals on the season to give him four so far this season.  Ladera is 6-for-29 (.207) though nine games, with four steals on four attempts.
  • Center fielder Estalin Cassiani went 2-for-2 with a walk.  Cassiani is 10-for-29, but all singles, in ten games this summer.  He has just two strikeouts to three walks on the year.
  • Reliever Samir Chires struck out six in 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits.  In 7.1 innings over four appearances, Chires has yet to allow a run.
