DSL Giants Black Notes:

  • Left fielder Eliam Sandoval led the team in hits, going 2-for-3 with a walk.  Sandoval now has hits in six straight games, and has a batting line of .317/.391/.512.
  • Right/center fielder Randy Arrieta had one of the team’s two triples, his second of the year, while going 1-for-3.  Arrieta’s two triple are his only extra-base hits of the season, while going 6-for-32 (.188).
  • Catcher Javier Castillo had the other triple, his third of the season, while going 1-for-4.  He has a batting line of .243/.338/.414, with three doubles, three triples, one home run on the year.
  • Starter Fernando Estrella gave up six runs on 3.0 innings, on five hits and three walks, with five strikeouts.  Estrella now has a 11.49 ERA on the season now after six starts.

DSL Giants Orange Notes:

  • Third baseman Dennys Riera went 1-for-3 with the team’s only extra-base hit, but also his first hit of the summer in his 11th game.  He’s 1-for-29 (.034) with a double, and one walk to 11 strikeouts.
  • Right fielder Estanlin Cassiani went 2-for-4, increasing his batting average to .400 on the summer.  He’s now on a 18-game hitting streak, and is 28-for-63 (.444) over that span, with a triple on that run.
  • Starting pitcher Samir Chires gave up a pair of runs in 5.0 inning, on five hits and a walk, with just one strikeout.  After allowing just one run in relief for his first eight appearances, Chires has given up five runs in 7.2 innings over his first two starts of the season.
