Sacramento had two huge innings to win this one going away.  The 5th inning led to five runs, highlighted by a 2-run Jason Vosler single and a 2-run Chadwick Tromp double.  That put the River Cats up 6-5.  Then they kept it up in the 6th, giving up two quick outs, and letting an error start the 2-out rally.  Vosler drew a bases loaded walk, and Tromp had an RBI single.  But it was busted open by Joe McCarthy’s 3-run triple to highlight a 6-run inning, making it 12-5.

Other Notes:

  • Mauricio Dubón is 9-for-15 in the three games since coming down to Triple-A, with a double, and two walks to two strikeouts.

RP Haydn King: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 SO

Ryan Murphy had a breakout game, absolutely dominating Stockton from the mound.  The Giants 5th round pick in 2020 faced 23 batters, striking out 12 of them, and allowing just two base runners.  Combine that with Haydn King in the bullpen, and Stockton got just five baserunners.

Other Notes:

  • Ryan Murphy’s seven innings is the longest start he has had this season, and his first shutout start since May 18th.  The 12 strikeouts are also the most in any game this season, but just by one, as he struck out 11 in 4.2 innings back on May 11th.
  • Carter Williams now has four home runs in nine games after his late start to the season, and has a .317/.341/.732 slugging percentage.
  • Marco Luciano hit his first home run in July, and 5th in the last six games.  He’s batting .278/.373/.583 on the season now.
  • Alexander Canario has seven home runs on the season.  Now five of them have taken place at Banner Island Ballpark.  This is San Jose’s last trip to Stockton this season, so Canario might be a bit sad.
