On April 30th, the Giants traded cash to the Seattle Mariners for first baseman Mike Ford.  Two weeks later, the Giants traded him back to Seattle for cash.

The wheeling and dealing Giants made their fourth trade with the Mariners, swapping Mike Ford back.  In his time with the Giants, Ford had played one game with the big league team, going 1-for-4, and then been optioned down to Sacramento, where he’d gone 0-for-7 over three games.

The Giants had designated Ford for assignment on May 11th as players came off the Covid list.  The Mariners apparently wanted him back enough to trade the cash considerations back to San Francisco.

In other news, Tyler Beede was claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Beede, the Giants 1st round pick in 2014, had struggled with injuries recently and control for most of his career.  He played only in San Francisco in 2022, and was out of options.  He had a 4.66 ERA over 9.2 innings in six appearances, allowing 14 hits to six walks against four strikeouts.
