There’s one name you’re not going to see in these box scores: Heliot Ramos. That’s because he’s on a plane cross-country.
Heliot Ramos’ batting line in Double-A hasn’t looked great, with a .237/.323/.432 batting line, 14 doubles, a triple, and 10 home runs in 62 games. He had a horrific slump in June, but had started to pick things up in Mid July, hitting five home runs in the two weeks between July 4th and July 18th. Now, Ramos will get a shot at hitting in the hotter (and drier) Triple-A West, starting on Thursday.
AAA: Round Rock 8, Sacramento 4
Sacramento Notes:
- Joey Bart hit his 9th home run of the season. It was just Bart’s second home run of July, though he didn’t play for a little over a week in Triple-A during a callup to San Francisco.
- Arismendy Alcántara hit just his sixth double of the season in Triple-A, which means his doubles total is still less than half of his home run total (13).
- Matt Frisbee had a very interesting stat line. He gave up a season-high ten hits for the second time this season, but only gave up two runs. It certainly helped he had a season-high in strikeouts (9), and didn’t walk anyone.
- Camilo Doval has strung together three consecutive scoreless appearances, and has dropped his ERA to 5.31. It started the month at 7.36, but he’s had a 3.48 ERA over the month of July to bring it down, with 13 strikeouts and seven walks.
- Today was the last day of Drew Robinson’s playing career. He is retiring, after having some big moments in this comeback season, and will stay with the Giants, working to promote the cause of Mental Health. Good luck to him in his future, and thank you for everything you did on the field!
AA: Richmond 9, Akron 5
Richmond Notes:
- It took Diego Rincones nine games to hit a home run at Double-A, but now he has hit one in three straight games. His numbers are coming up, and his batting line is now .231/.302/.462 after 11 games.
- Will Wilson’s 3-hit game is his first such game at Double-A, and finally gets him over the mendoza line for the first time since his promotion.
- David Villar had another 2-hit game, and is having an excellent July. He’s 18-for-59 (.305) in the month, with six doubles and a walk.
- Starter Michael Plassmeyer allowed five runs, his highest total in over a month. After seven starts with Richmond, he has a 4.63 ERA with 36 strikeouts to just five walks in 35.0 innings.
- Patrick Ruotolo had his 5th straight appearance without allowing a run, and is looking stronger as the season has gone on. He had a 3.86 ERA in May, but a 1.69 ERA in June and now a 1.17 ERA in July so far.
High-A: Hillsboro 3, Eugene 2
Eugene Notes:
- Brett Auerbach’s fourth home run of the season broke up a no-hitter. He has gotten into a bit of a home run tear recently, hitting three of his four High-A home runs in the last six games. His batting line in Eugene has reached .286/.344/.554.
- Sean Roby got into his first game since July 17th, but still hit a double for his second straight game. Roby has hit seven of his 11 doubles of the season in July.
- Conner Nurse has struggled much of the month, although on Tuesday he gave up the least runs of his four starts this month, and went the longest, going 5.0 innings.
Low-A: San Jose 9, Stockton 3
San Jose Notes:
- Luis Matos’s run continues for San Jose. He’s had multiple hits in five of the last six games, and a 7-game hitting streak. Over those seven games, he’s 15-for-33 (.455) with four doubles and two home runs.
- Marco Luciano has multiple hits in five of the last six games, and picked up his league-leading 16th home run. It’s just Luciano’s third home run in July, but he’s drawn 10 walks to 16 strikeouts in 56 at-bats.
- Jairo Pomares has six doubles and six home runs in the month of July after hitting a double on Monday.
- With another 2-hit game, Glowenke has had multiple hits in eight games in the month of July. He’s gone hitless in only five games.
- Carson Ragsdale’s strikeout touch had slacked off a little in July, but his eight strikeouts are his most since July 2nd. On the season, he has 102 strikeouts in 60.0 innings, with 29 walks.
- Ivan Rodriguez had his 11th outing of more than two innings out of the San Jose bullpen, in 18 total appearances.
ACL: ACL Rockies 10, ACL Giants Black 1
ACL Giants Black Notes:
- Alexander Suarez picked up two hits, his third multi-hit game in his last five. He’s batting .305/.349/.492 on the summer.
- Najee Gaskins had been a bit cold as of late, going 2-for-20 (.100) over his previous seven games, before his 2-hit game on Tuesday. He’s batting .244/.277/.444 on the season.
- Freddery Paulino gave up 10 hits and three walks in 4.0 innings en route to allowing nine runs, boosting his ERA to 6.26. He pitched in the AZL in 2019, when he had a 4.12 ERA.
ACL: ACL Giants Orange 2, ACL Cubs 1
ACL Giants Orange Notes:
- George Bell broke out of a 3-game mini-slump, where he was 0-for-6 combined, with a 2-hit game and his second double on the season.
- Yavier Torrealba got a late start on his ACL season, not getting into a game until July 17th, and picked up his first hits today. This is the 19-year old’s first pro season.
- Trevor McDonald did not get the start, but pitched the lion’s share of the innings after a one inning opener, and had one of his best games of the season, only allowing a run and not allowing a walk for the first time this summer.
DSL: DSL Rangers 2 18, DSL Giants Black 9
DSL Giants Black Notes:
- Mauricio Pierre has gotten off to a good start to the DSL season, and notched his first 3-hit game and first home run. The 17-year old from Panama has a batting line of .385/.429/.615 after seven games, with nine strikeouts to two walks.
- In his second game of the season, Oswaldo Ladera got his first home run of the season.
- Juanel Urena showed off the wheels in his first multi-hit game of the season. After going 2-for-3 with three walks and a double, he stole four bases. That gives him five on the season. However, he’s just 3-for-19 (.158) on the season.
- Ricardo Estrada was victimized by some bad defense, as a leadoff error led to four unearned runs against him in the 1st. He did better with his walks, however, with just one after allowing four in his first start.
