Richmond picked up their first home win in a tightly-pitched walkoff win, while Sacramento overcame a horrible start by Carson Whisenhunt to score the winning run in the 8th inning.  It’s a system sweep on the day!

Player of the Game: DH David Villar: 2-3, 1 R, 3 RBI, 2 2B (5), 1 BB

David Villar had two of the team’s three extra-base hits, and knocking in three of the team’s runs.  Villar is batting just .205 after 11 games, but six of his nine hits have been for extra bases.

  • LF Heliot Ramos: 1-4, 3 RBI, 1 3B (2), 1 K – Ramos continues his strong season with his second triple, giving him more triples than doubles (1), and he’s batting .318 after 11 games.
  • CF Chase Pinder: 2-3, 3 R, 1 BB – Pinder has only been in six games this season, but he has at least one hit in each, and is hitting .400 now.
  • SP Carson Whisenhunt: 1.1 IP, 4 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 5 BB, 2 K, 1 HR – Whisenhunt had a horrendous start, consistently missing underneath the zone with all of his pitches.

Player of the Game: Carson Ragsdale: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K

Ragsdale announced his presence in his first home start by striking out the first three batters he faced, and his only run allowed came more from a couple of bad reads in left field.  Excellent start, even with a few walks.

  • 2B Jimmy Glowenke: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 HR (1), 1 K – Glowenke’s 6th inning home run tied the game, and is just the second Richmond home run of the year.
  • DH Adrian Sugastey: 1-2, 1 2B (1) – A good game for Sugastey, but he was pinch-hit for late, with no clear reason.
  • LF Victor Bericoto: 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B (3), 2 K – Bericoto continues to hit well, though some bad reads in the outfield affected the game.

Onil Perez is off to a great start on his season, hitting .412 after four games, with three doubles, and two walks to just one strikeout.  The catcher even has two steals.

  • CF Quinn McDaniel: 1-4, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 HR (1), 1 SF, 1 K – McDaniel responded well to his first pro game in center field, with his first home run of the season.  He had 6 HR in 29 games last season in his debut.
  • LF Turner Hill: 3-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB (1) – Hill had his first 3-hit game of the season.  He had nine such games out of 76 in 2023, his first pro season.

Excellent second pro start for the 22-year old Bostick.  He had allowed 3 runs in 4.0 innings in his last game.

  • 2B Javier Francisco: 1-4, 2 R, 1 2B (1), 2 K – Francisco had the team’s only extra-base hit, and it was his first of the year in four games.
  • DH Ty Hanchey: 2-3, 1 BB, 1 K – Hanchey has had a good start through two games, going 3-for-7, with a walk and two strikeouts.
  • RP Esmerlin Vinicio: 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 2 HBP – Vinicio was a bit wild, but was very effective in his relief stint.
