FUTURES GAME: NL Futures 8, AL Futures 3

  • Neither Marco Luciano nor Heliot Ramos started the game for the NL Team.  Luciano got two plate appearances, and he popped out to second his first time up, then walked on five pitches in his second.
  • Ramos struck out looking in his only plate appearance.  He had a solid at-bat otherwise, only swinging at pitches in the zone, and taking the ones outside the zone until the final strike.

AAA: Sacramento 14, Salt Lake 5

Sacramento Notes:

  • Make it a 10-game hitting streak for Joe McCarthy, and his first 2-home run game of the season.  That gives him 12 home runs on the season, and pushes his batting average above .300 (.305) for the first time since mid-June.
  • Ronnie Freeman hit his first home run in Triple-A this season, in his fifth game there during this second stint.  He’s 3-for-15 with the home run since returning from injury on July 2nd.
  • Starter Trevor Hildenberger made just his second start of the season, going just 1.2 innings.  As a starters, in two opening roles, Hildenberger has a 7.36 ERA, but just a 3.55 ERA when working in relief.
  • Kervin Castro gave up his first runs since June 3rd, but also set a new season-high in strikeouts, with six.  Castro’s ERA is back up to 3.60, but he now has 35 strikeouts in 25.0 innings.
  • After a quiet stretch, Mauricio Dubón picked up his fifth multi-hit game out of nine played with Sacramento.

AA: Richmond 12, Bowie 5

Richmond Notes:

  • 42 games into the season, Andy Sugilio hit his first home run of the season as part of a 4-hit effort.  He also added his fourth double.  In his first year in the Giants system, Sugilio is batting .280/.326/.336.
  • Sandro Fabian matched his 2019 home run total with his 7th home run, in eight less games than he needed that year.  Fabian has 26 strikeouts to 25 walks in 143 plate appearances this season.
  • With another 2-hit game, Frankie Tostado is now batting .324 (12-for-37) in July, with two doubles and three home runs.
  • Simon Whiteman picked up his sixth double of the year in Double-A, giving him nine on the season in total, in his 23rd game.  His two walks give him 11 to 32 strikeouts in 23 games.  He’s batting .233 with a .317 OBP in Richmond.
  • Luis Amaya made his second start of the season, struggling through it.  Over his last six appearances, both relief and starting, Amaya’s allowed 11 runs in 12 innings of work.
  • Mac Marshall made his second appearance since his return from injury, and had his second scoreless 2-inning appearance.

High-A: Everett 10, Eugene 5

Eugene Notes:

  • Carter Aldrete now has a home run in two straight games, and his second multi-hit game since his return on June 24th.  He’s one home run away from matching his rookie 2019 total.
  • Rob Emery picked up his first home run at High-A in his eighth game at the level.  He’s 6-for-24 at Eugene, but four of those hits have been for extra bases (three doubles, one home run).
  • Ricardo Genovés picked up just his first multi-hit game in High-A, in his 12th game at the level.    He’s batting .243/.364/.297 so far since his promotion, with just two doubles.
  • Seth Corry had another rough game, giving up six runs on six hits and five walks, and having his shortest start since June 18th.  His ERA has jumped to 5.40, it’s highest since his second start of the season.
  • Austin Reich made his second High-A appearance, and continues to do very well, allowing his first baserunner by way of walk.  In 5.0 innings at High-A, he has eight strikeouts.

Low-A: Fresno 5, San Jose 3

San Jose Notes:

  • Jimmy Glowenke’s hot July continued with his third home run.  All three of his home runs have come in July, and he’s batting 12-for-34 (.353) with a .436 on-base percentage.
  • 12 starts into the season, Kyle Harrison had his first start without allowing a walk.  After seven strikeouts today, he has 83 strikeouts to 29 walks in 53.2 innings.
  • Luis Toribio has back-to-back games with doubles, giving him ten on the season.  Toribio is 7-for-15 with two doubles and four walks over his last four games.
  • Alexander Canario had his third multi-hit game in July, and is batting .286 on the month.
  • Brooks Crawford had his third scoreless appearance in a row to start July, and he’s yet to walk anyone this month.  Overall, he has 28 strikeouts to four walks in 19.2 innings.
