Richmond Notes:

  • Diego Rincones had his best game in Double-A Richmond, hitting his fifth double and fifth home run.  He’s done that in 27 games.  In 25 games at Eugene, he’d hit five home runs and six doubles.
  • Frankie Tostado hit his 11th home run of the season.  On the month, Tostado is 6-for-29 (.207) with a double and two home runs.
  • Vince Fernandez hit a double to break a 7-game hitless streak.  Fernandez also drew his first walk since July 18th.
  • Aaron Blair gave up his first earned runs since his season debut on July 24th.  Through four starts, he’s got 11 walks and six strikeouts in 13.0 innings.

High-A: Hillsboro 10, Eugene 6

Eugene Notes:

  • Armani Smith picked up his second home run of August 11 days into the month.  Smith only had one home run in the month of July, batting .203, before missing a week at the end of the month, but he’s 13-for-39 (.333) with two home runs so far in August.
  • Sean Roby picked up his fourth home run of the month in nine games this month.  Roby is batting 14-for-37 (.378) on the month.  He’s raised his batting average from .188 to .215 since the start of August.
  • Marco Luciano picked up his first triple in High-A, and also his first walk.  Luciano has struggled with plate discipline, going 4-for-25 (.160) with 14 strikeouts and just one walk in Eugene.
  • Tyler Fitzgerald had a hot streak broken by an 0-for-4 game on Tuesday, but he picked right back up with his 5th mutli-hit game in the last six games.

Low-A: San Jose 6, Modesto 2

San Jose Notes:

  • Jimmy Glowenke hit his second home run in the last four days, giving him seven on the season.  The 2-hit game is Glowenke’s first of the month, raising his monthly total to 7-for-33 (.212), but with a .455 slugging percentage with two doubles and two home runs.
  • Yorlis Rodriguez picked up his first hit in San Jose in his third game at Low-A, a double.  Rodriguez had a .316/.375/.468 batting line in 25 games in the ACL, with four doubles, a triple, and two home runs.
  • Luis Matos had his second 2-hit game in a row.  Matos is 12-for-33 (.364) with two doubles and a home run in the month of August so far.
  • Prelander Berroa bounced back from his worst start to have a good one, striking out seven in 4.1 innings.  Berroa has a 2.97 ERA and has limited opposing hitters to a .218 batting average, but has a 1.32 WHIP after issuing 36 walks in 69.2 innings
