AAA: Sacramento 6, El Paso 3

Sacramento Notes:

  • Sean Hjelle made his long-awaited Triple-A debut, and it had its ups and downs.  Hjelle allowed seven hits and four walks.  He had a 3.15 ERA with 69 strikeouts to 19 walks, and 60 hits in 65.2 innings at Double-A.
  • Jason Vosler hit another home run, his 11th in Sacramento, and his fourth in nine games at Triple-A since being sent back down.
  • Jaylin Davis hit his 11th home run in Triple-A, and he’s done it in just 26 games.  He has a .275/.348/.657 batting line.
  • Braden Bishop hit a home run, his first since July 16th and 6th of the season.  Bishop has a Sacramento batting line of .308/.374/.485.
  • Heliot Ramos hit two doubles on Monday, giving him seven in 18 games at Triple-A Sacramento.  He has a .262/.366/.377 batting line so far at the level.
  • Mauricio Dubón hit a double, his sixth in Sacramento.  In 126 at-bats, he has walked 18 times to 25 strikeouts.
  • Reyes Mornota had another scoreless outing, giving him five scoreless appearances in August.  Moronta has a 1.29 ERA in eight appearances during his Triple-A rehab.
  • Sammy Long had his second appearance since being sent back to Sacramento, once again working in relief.  In 3.2 innings, he’s struck out six with four walks and two hits allowed.
  • Thairo Estrada was a late scratch from the game, with no reason given.

AA: Richmond 6, Bowie 3

Richmond Notes:

  • Sandro Fabian hit his 10th home run of the season, and is one home run away from his season-high of 11 that he hit in nearly twice as many games in Augusta.
  • Mitchell Tolman hit his first home run in Double-A, after five games.  He had nine home runs in Triple-A Sacramento across 63 games.
  • Diego Rincones had his first 3-hit game in Richmond, after 26 games.  He’d had three such games in 25 games at High-A Eugene.
  • David Villar had his second double in three days, giving him 17 on the season.  Villar is batting .253/.351/.426 on the season.
  • Trenton Toplikar had a solid start, allowing two runs on five hits, with a home run.  Toplikar has given up 12 home runs in 71.2 innings, and had allowed six in four starts in July.
  • Patrick Ruotolo gave up a walk, but no hits.  He’s allowed just 13 hits in 29.0 innings this season at Double-A, with a .133 average allowed.

High-A: Hillsboro 3, Eugene 2

Eugene Notes:

  • Franklin Labour hit a home run, his 12th of the season and first since July 31st.  Labour has had a quiet first third of the month, going just 3-for-28 (.107) since the start of August.
  • Sean Roby has been the opposite, he’s been hot for August.  He’s 13-for-33, and hit his fourth double of the month on Tuesday, along with three home runs.
  • Kai-Wei Teng had his highest strikeout total since June 22nd with nine, and gave up his first run in the last three starts, on a home run.  Teng has 89 strikeouts to 40 walks in 63.0 innings, and has allowed nine home runs on the season.

Low-A: San Jose 4, Modesto 0

San Jose Notes:

  • Luis Matos had his fourth 2-hit game out of seven that he’s played in August.  He’s hit 10-for-28 (.357) along with two doubles and a home run.
  • Jimmy Glowenke got his second double of August.  He’s struggled somewhat in August after his hot July, as he’s just 5-for-28 with the two doubles and one home run.
  • Jairo Pomares has gotten at least a hit in each of his last six games.  He’s 10-for-21 (.476) with three doubles and a home run over that stretch.
  • Kyle Harrison had just his third start without allowing a run, but also had his most dominating strikeout game in more than a month.  Harrison has 111 strikeouts in 72.2 innings.

ACL: ACL Rockies 8, ACL Giants Black 5

ACL Giants Black Notes:

  • Alexander Suarez had his first 4-hit game of the season, and hit his first home run since July 16th.  He’s batting .330/.384/.515 on the summer.
  • Ghordy Santos hit his first triple of the summer, in his 8th game.  He has one double, one triple, and one home run so far this season.
  • Ronaldo Flores had his second 2-hit game over the last three.  Flores is batting .235/.264/.279 on the season.
  • Esmerlin Vinicio gave up a home run for the only run of this start.  It was his second home run allowed this season, and they came in the last three games.  

ACL: ACL Giants Orange 11, ACL Cubs 2

ACL Giants Orange Notes:

  • 10th round pick Vaun Brown has started off pretty well.  He hit his first triple, and is 2-for-6 to start the season, with a stolen base and two strikeouts.
  • Aeverson Arteaga picked up a double in a 2-hit game, raising his season batting line to .336/.400/.609.
  • Damon Dues hit his first double of the season in his second game.  He’s 2-for-7 with a walk and a strikeout.
  • Adrian Sugastey continued his run of multi-hit games, now with four in a row.  He’s raised his average from .333 to .367 across those four games.
  • Sonny Vargas had a solid game, giving up only two hits, but one of them was a home run, his 5th allowed this season.  He’s giving up a batting average of just .237 this summer.

DSL: DSL Giants Black 2, DSL Tigers 0

DSL Giants Black Notes:

  • In the Black team’s first game in nearly 2 weeks, Estanlin Cassiani continued his excellent summer.  He hit his first triple, in 7 games played.  His batting line is .409/.435/.636.
  • Yison Lemos hit his second double of the season.  Across 12 games, he has two doubles and a home run.  He’s got 5 walks to 14 strikeouts in 47 plate appearances.
  • Jose Ramos also played in just his 7th game, and got his second double of the summer.  He also has one triple, and three steals already this summer.
  • Johnny Grullon finally got to make his third start, and it was his first without allowing a run.  In 12.2 innings, Grullon has given up six hits, four walks, and 11 strikeouts.

DSL: Suspended – Top 1st – DSL Giants Orange 6, DSL Pirates Gold 0

The game will be completed on September 28th.  They couldn’t get out of the top of the 1st without rain stopping things.  Before the game was stopped, the Golden Pirates issued four straight walks, including three bases loaded walks.
