The Giants’ first round pick Bryce Eldridge reached a big milestone in his pro career, hitting his first pro home run down in Arizona. Wade Meckler picked up his first home run at Triple-A, while Aeverson Arteaga had a huge day in Eugene, and Scott Bandura made his San Jose debut and made it memorable, getting on base five times and picking up a home run.

On a short schedule made shorter by weather, there was still plenty of excitement. One game in the Arizona Complex League featured one player hitting for the Cycle, another hitting for two home runs, and one pitcher throwing for ten strikeouts.

The Eugene pitching staff had a great game, led by Trevor McDonald’s four shutout innings in his third game back from injury. Ghordy Santos made sure that stood up with a great game at the plate. Meanwhile, David Villar and Shane Matheny each had good games for each of their teams.

P.J. Hilson has begun coming on late this season, and had a huge day in an exciting San Jose game down south, smacking two home runs and a double. However, where has all the offense gone in the upper minors (and kinda the big leagues, too)?

3rd round pick Cole Foster was the Giants highest college draft pick this year, and the former Auburn shortstop has taken off in Arizona, as he hit his third home run in six games down there. Meanwhile, Zach Morgan continues to do well after his promotion to High-A, and Diego Velasquez continues his hot second half for San Jose.
