P.J. Hilson has begun coming on late this season, and had a huge day in an exciting San Jose game down south, smacking two home runs and a double.  However, where has all the offense gone in the upper minors (and kinda the big leagues, too)?

Top Sacramento Performances:

  • Kyle Harrison made his long-awaited return to Triple-A after his hamstring injury, to mixed results.  Harrison only worked 2.0 innings in his first game back, allowing one run on just one hit but four walks, with two strikeouts.  It’s Harrison’s first Triple-A appearance since the 4th of July.  He had one 2.0 inning rehab appearance on July 31st.  Harrison has 94 strikeouts to 48 walks in 58.1 innings, and his ERA sits at 4.78.
  • Right fielder Wade Meckler was only River Cat to reach base safely twice, going 1-for-2 with a walk.  Meckler is just 2-for-9 (.222) in his first five Triple-A games, but has six walks to one strikeout.
  • Shortstop Tyler Fitzgerald went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.  It breaks a short hitless streak for Fitzgerald, who had gone hitless for three games (0-for-12) before this.  He’s hitting .274/.334/.473.

Top Richmond Performances:

  • Jimmy Glowenke was 2-for-4 with a pair of singles with a stolen base and a strikeout.  It’s Glowenke’s second multi-hit game in the last three.  He now has five steals on five attempts on the season, all of them coming in Double-A Richmond.  In Double-A, he’s hitting .232/.318/.371.
  • Left fielder Ismael Munguia was 2-for-5 with a pair of singles, and made a throwing error, just his second of the season.  Munguia continues to hit well when he’s been healthy in Richmond, with a .310/.373/.413 batting line in 47 games.
  • Starter Hayden Birdsong made his Richmond debut gave up four runs in 3.1 innings, off of six hits and three walks allowed, with five strikeouts.  The 6th round pick from 2022 has moved up from San Jose all the way to Richmond, and had a 3.25 ERA after eight appearances in High-A, where he had 46 strikeouts to nine walks in 36.0 innings.

Top Eugene Performances:

  • Shortstop Aeverson Arteaga was 2-for-5 with a home run.  That gives Arteaga 15 home runs on the season, a new career-high for him.  He also has 22 doubles and three triples, and has a batting line of .232/.307/.429, with 35 walks to 110 strikeouts in 96 games.
  • First baseman Sean Roby picked up his sixth home run on a 1-for-2 day with two walks.  Roby has collected those six home runs and six doubles in 19 games at Eugene as he works his way back, and he now has nine walks to 24 strikeouts.  He’s hitting .260/.341/.589 at Eugene.
  • Luis Toribio was 1-for-4 with a home run, a grand slam, with two strikeouts.  That gives Toribio 13 home runs in 77 games, and he has 85 strikeouts to 47 walks on the season.  He’s hitting .230/.348/.421.
  • Starting pitcher Seth Lonsway gave up just one run in 5.0 innings, on four hits and a walk, while striking out five home runs.  It’s Lonsway’s first game with at least five strikeouts since back on June 28th.  He lowered his ERA to 5.40 on the season after 23 appearances in High-A.

Top San Jose Performances:

  • It was a huge day for P.J. Hilson, who went 3-for-4 with two home runs and a double.  After 60 games, Hilson now has nine doubles, two triples, and eight home runs on the season, with ten walks to 39 strikeouts.  He’s got a batting line of .240/.281/.410 after 60 games.
  • Left fielder Alexander Suarez went 2-for-4 with a triple, his fifth on the season, and a sacrifice fly.  In 76 games this season, eight got eight doubles, five triples, and five home runs, with 18 walks to 86 strikeouts.  He’s got a batting line of .244/.306/.359.
  • Starting pitcher Manuel Mercedes gave up just one run in 5.0 innings, giving up four hits and one walk, while striking out five, and he also threw one wild pitch.  Mercedes lowered his ERA to 3.61, and now has 61 strikeouts to 35 walks in 82.1 innings.

  • Catcher Cesar Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with a double, his third of the summer.  Gonzalez now has three doubles to go with a triple and three home runs in 25 games, with a .253/.371/.440 batting line.
  • Josh Bostick went 1.0 inning, giving up two hits and striking out one.  That’s two games for Bostick, and he’s now got four strikeouts to one walk and two hits in 2.0 innings so far for the 8th round.

  • 3B Justin Wishkoski went 1-for-3 with a walk, hitting his second double of the summer and stealing his first base.  After five games, he’s 5-for-15 (.333) with two doubles and a home run, with three walks to no strikeouts.
  • Center fielder Scott Bandura went 1-for-3 with a walk, and his first double of the summer.  He’s now 6-for-15 (.400) with a double and a home run after five games, with five walks to six strikeouts.
  • Starter Alix Hernandez gave up four runs in 4.0 innings, off of three hits and two walks, while striking out eight.  He’s got 58 strikeouts to 21 walks in 41.1 innings.

  • First baseman Eduardo Montero was one of just four DSL Giants Black players with a hit, and the only with an extra-base hit, going 1-for-3 with a double.  After 17 games, he’s hitting .229/.333/.375 with 18 strikeouts to 10 walks.
  • Starting pitcher Marlon Franco gave up four runs, two earned, off of five hits and two walks, with three strikeouts.  After 12 games, Franco has a 2.87 ERA with 24 strikeouts to seven walks in 31.1 innings.

  • Third baseman Jhosward Camacho went 1-for-3 with a home run and a strikeout.  It’s Camacho’s second home run, which is his first season out of three with more than one home run.  He’s hitting .211/.326/.294 on the summer.
  • Catcher Jorge Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a double, his second of the summer.  After 15 games, the two doubles are his only extra-base hits, as he’s gone 10-for-50 (.200).  He has a .322 OBP and a .240 slugging percentage.
  • Starting pitcher Johan Rodriguez went 3.0 innings, allowing two hits and no walks leading to one run, with two strikeouts.
