The Eastern League playoffs got underway, and it was a very slow start for the Richmond offense, who gathered just two hits (and no walks). Meanwhile, David Villar continued his power hitting in Sacramento with a home run, and Yoshi Tsutsugo made his Sacramento debut.

Only two games today in the Giants farm, and the teams combined for exactly one run. But the big news of the day is catcher Joey Bart exiting his game in Sacramento after taking a foul ball to the mask.

With only two teams still playing, things were a bit slow (including my post…sorry it’s so late), but that’s okay. Except for the pitchers, as both Teng and Murphy suffered. But there was one new Double-A debut to look at!

Marco Luciano came back to action a few games ago, but had his first legitimate big game back, hitting two home runs in one game for just the second game this season. Wade Meckler also continued his great run in Triple-A, and Yoshi Tsutsugo hit another one out in Richmond.

It was a rough day for San Jose, who came home needing to win two straight games to come back against rival Modesto, but they couldn’t get out of the gates to win even one. Meanwhile, John Michael Bertrand led Richmond with a fantastic pitching performance to clinch a playoff spot, and Tyler Fitzgerald now has 20 home runs in Triple-A.
