Congratulations to Tristan Beck, making his MLB debut!

AAA: Round Rock 2, Sacramento 1

Link

Sacramento Notes:

  • It was Kyle Harrison day in Sacramento, and it was an appropriate pitcher’s duel as the River Cats lost by a smidge with a 2-1 score.  The River Cats picked up their only run in the third, behind singles by Will Wilson and Casey Schmitt, capped off by a Gary Sanchez RBI single.  That 1-0 lead held until the 7th, when two walks put Sacramento in a dangerous spot, and a double scored both runners to put Round Rock up.
  • Kyle Harrison had a good game, even if his control remains an issue.  Harrison went 3.0 shutout innings, with one hit and three walks, while striking out five.  That lowers his season ERA to 5.00, and he now has 13 walks to 12 strikeouts in 9.0 innings.
  • Reliever Ryan Walker kept the good pitching going with 2.0 shutout innings, not allowing any baserunners and striking out two.  Walker has a 0.77 ERA after six games, with 12 strikeouts to five walks in 11.2 innings, on just four hits allowed.
  • It was a good game and a rough game for Melvin AdĂłn, who struck out four in 1.2 innings, but blew the save with one hit and one walk, allowing two inherited runners to score.  The runs didn’t go on AdĂłn’s record, so his ERA drops to 6.23 and he now has 13 strikeouts to 11 walks in 8.2 innings.
  • Cole Waites pitched a scoreless 9th inning, allowing a hit and walk while striking out one.  It pushed his ERA down to 12.00, and he now has 11 walks with five strikeouts in 6.0 innings.
  • DH Austin Slater played all nine innings, going 1-for-3 with a walk and his first steal of rehab.  Through six games, Slater has a .333/.444/.600 line.
    • Also on the rehab note, Mitch Haniger took the day off.
  • Catcher Gary Sanchez also went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strike out, knocking in the only Sacramento run.  After ten games, the 30-year old is batting .158 (6-for-38) with one double, and eight walks to 13 strikeouts.

AA: Richmond 10, Erie 7

Richmond Notes:

  • The Squirrels found themself in an unfamiliar position, behind Erie by a score of 6-2 after six innings.  But in the 7th, Richmond exploded for eight runs, sending 13 batters to the plate.  It was highlighted by an Ismael Munguia 2-run home run, RBI singles by Brett Auerbach, Simon Whiteman, and Hayden Cantrelle, and a bases loaded walk to Andy Thomas.
  • It was the first Double-A home run (and home run of the season) for right fielder Ismael Munguia, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a walk.  Munguia has a batting line of .277/.358/.340 after 12 games, with four walks to nine strikeouts, and his home run is his only extra-base hit so far.
  • Center fielder Luis Matos was 2-for-5 with his third double of the season, with two strikeouts.  It’s the first multi-hit game for Matos in his last six games, since April 12th.  After 11 games, Matos is batting .275/.396/.425 with eight walks to four strikeouts.
  • Hayden Cantrelle also picked up a pair of hits, going 2-for-4 with a double, his second.  The only extra-base hits Cantrelle has are his two doubles through nine games, and he has walked three times while striking out four.
  • Coming in mid-game to play left, Simon Whiteman went 1-for-2 with a walk and his first steal of the season (finally!).  In 11 games, Whiteman has a batting line of .310/.459/.552, with eight walks to nine strikeouts.
  • Starter Nick Zwack had a bunch of twos: 2.0 innings, two runs, two earned runs, two walks, two strikeouts, allowing two home runs…but on four hits total.  Zwack has a 3.48 ERA on the season so far, with 14 strikeouts to five walks in 10.1 innings.
  • Reliever Raymond Burgos kept runs from crossing the plate, but he walked four while allowing a hit in 2.0 innings, with two strikeouts.  Burgos hasn’t allowed any runs in 6.1 innings, having allowed just two hits, but now six walks to five strikeouts.
  • Juan Sanchez gave up a run on one hit and one walk with one strikeouts in 2.1 innings.  He’s got a 1.59 ERA, with five strikeouts to one walk in 5.2 innings.
  • Reliever Evan Gates picked up the save, striking out three while walking one.  In 5.0 innings, Gates has struck out nine while walking four.
