Sacramento Notes:

  • Jason Krizan had one of his best games of the season, going 3-for-4 and falling a triple short of a cycle.  That gives him seven doubles and two home runs on the season, but it also breaks a 5-game hitless streak he had.
  • Kevin Padlo was 1-for-4 with a home run in the first inning.  That was his ninth home run of the season, and seventh since joining Sacramento.  His last home run had come back on May 17th.  As a River Cat, he has a .278/.337/.608 batting line.
  • Steven Duggar made his first appearance in his rehab assignment, going 0-for-2 with a strikeout.  Duggar last played on April 21st in San Francisco, when he left with a left oblique injury.  He was placed on the 60-Day Injured List by the Giants, so he will not be eligible to return to the Majors for close to three weeks.
  • Ka’ai Tom went 2-for-3 with his seventh double of the year.  Tom had a great April, when he hit .327, but struggle to a .164/.292/.200 batting line in May, where he had just two doubles as his only extra-base hits.
  • Michael Plassmeyer was on the mound to start for the River Cats, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks across 4.1 innings.  Plassmeyer has struggled recently, having allowed at least four runs in each of his last four starts, with 19 runs allowed over his last 15.2 innings.

San Jose Notes:

  • Victor Bericoto was the only San Jose player with more than one hit, going 2-for-3 with a walk.  Bericoto is arguably the hottest hitter in San Jose, now with a 10-game hitting streak where he’s gone 16-for-39 (.410) with six doubles, and also six walks to just eight strikeouts.  When the streak started, Bericoto’s batting average was .219, and it’s now .271.
  • Aeverson Arteaga was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Arteaga finished May with a .304/.349/.520 batting line, with six doubles, two triples, and four home runs.
  • Nick Sinacola got hit hard, giving up three runs on only five hits, but three of those hits were home runs.  He also struck out six with a walk.  Sinacola has struck out 48 with 15 walks in 33.1 innings, and the three home runs today doubles how many he’s allowed all season.
  • Landen Roupp had a fantastic game in a piggyback start, striking out nine in 4.0 innings with two hits and a walk allowed.  Roupp now has 51 strikeouts to 12 walks in 31.0 innings, and lowered his ERA to 2.32 and his WHIP just to 1.00.
