Sacramento Notes:

  • Ka’ai Tom led the River Cats with four hits, hitting his third home run and his eighth double of the season.  It was Tom’s first 4-hit game of the season, and raises his season batting line to .270/.357/.410.
  • Wyatt Mathisen was 1-for-3 with a walk and his second double of the season.  Since returning from injury on May 24th, Mathisen has gone 3-for-19 (.158) with a double and four walks across seven games.
  • Jason Krizan went 2-for-5 on the day.  It’s Krizan’s second straight multi-hit game (5-for-9 combined) after five straight games without a hit.
  • Ricardo Genovés got on base three times, going 1-for-3 with a pair of walks.  In 33 games this season, Genovés has walked just 13 times to striking out 35 times.
  • Enmanuel De Jesus got the start, allowing five runs on season-highs in hits allowed (nine) and walks allowed (four) through just 4.1 innings.  It ties his season-high in runs, which he gave up in his season debut.

Richmond Notes:

  • Kyle Harrison took a bit of a rude wakeup call at Double-A, giving up six runs in 3.2 innings, off of five hits and four walks.  He did strike out five.  He’s now allowed 11 hits and eight runs, all earned in 9.1 innings so far in Double-A.
  • Tyler Fitzgerald went 1-for-5 with a walk and his seventh home run of the season between the two games, the hit and walk coming in Game 2.  Fitzgerald is batting .195 on the season with 55 strikeouts to 17 walks in 185 plate appearances.
  • Sean Roby combined to go 1-for-7 on the day, but hit his team-leading 13th home run.  Roby had hit just .221 in May, with two doubles, a triple, and four home runs.
  • Rob Emery combined to go 1-for-5 with his third home run of the season.  It was his first since May 21st.  Overall, Emery is batting .225/.337/.400 in 27 games this season, with three doubles, a triple, adn three home runs.
  • Bryan Brickhouse had the Game 2 start, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk in 5.0 innings.  The one strikeout in this game was the third time this season where he’s had one strikeout or less, one of them a start where he went just one inning.
  • Taylor Rashi struck out two and allowed one hit in a scoreless inning in relief.  Rashi has had some tough games of late, including allowing nine runs, eight earned, over 4.2 innings spread across five appearances, but he’s had 3.0 scoreless innings since that stretch.  He’s got 27 strikeouts to ten walks in 20.0 innings this season.

High-A: Eugene 8, Everett 2

Eugene Notes:

  • Hunter Bishop had another strong game, going 2-for-3 with two walks, hitting his fifth home run, and stealing his 12th base, though also getting caught stealing for the second time.  Bishop has gone 5-for-13 (.385) over his last four games, with a double, a home run, four steals in five attempts, and three walks to four strikeouts.  His season batting line is up to .211/.296/.366.
  • Ghordy Santos went 1-for-5 with his fourth home run, though he struck out the other four times.  Santos is hitting .250/.309/.395 on the season, with eight doubles, a triple, and four home runs through 40 games.
  • Carter Aldrete went 1-for-3 with a walk, and his eighth double.  Aldrete hit .257 with five doubles and six home runs in May, and is now 2-for-6 with three walks to three strikeouts, with a double and a home run so far in June.
  • In his fourth start of the season, Ryan Murphy notched a season-high in strikeouts (nine) and a season-low in walks (zero), with two runs allowed on four hits in five innings.  Through 16.0 innings, Murphy has struck out 27 to six walks allowed.
  • Nick Morreale had a dominating 2.0 innings in relief, striking out five while allowing one hit, on HBP, and a wild pitch.  It was Morreale’s season-high in strikeouts.  In 17.0 innings this season, he’s struck out 18 to eight walks.

Low-A: Stockton 5, San Jose 4 (11 Innings)

San Jose Notes:

  • Vaun Brown led the team by going 3-for-5, all singles, with two stolen bases.  That gives Brown 20 steals in 21 attempts, with a .354 batting average and a .438 on-base percentage. 
  • Garrett Frechette had a pair of singles, going 2-for-5.  He’s got a mini-hit-streak going, now six games long, having gone 9-for-24 (.375) with a double and a triple over that span.
  • Grant McCray was 1-for-5 with his 12th steal of the season.  McCray now has three steals in his last five games, and overall has his 12 steals in 15 attempts.
  • Aeverson Arteaga was also 1-for-5 with a steal.  For Arteaga, it was just his fourth steal of the year on his sixth attempt.  In 2021, Arteaga had eight steals and wasn’t caught stealing in 56 games at the ACL.
  • Matt Mikulski took the start, and struck out a season-high eight, while allowing three runs on five hits, two walks and a hit batter.  The strikeouts give him 44 on the season in 39.2 innings, to 12 walks.
  • Trevor McDonald had a nice game in the piggyback start, allowing just an unearned run on one hit and two walks in 4.0 innings, while striking out five.  McDonald has now thrown six innings without allowing an earned run since allowing ten runs, nine earned, across two consecutive appearances (6.2 innings).
