Sacramento Notes:

  • Austin Dean went 1-for-3 with his 11th home run of the season with a walk and a HBP.  The home run was his first in the last five games.  Dean is batting 9-for-15 with two doubles and a home run in four games in June, with two walks to three strikeouts.
  • Isan Díaz also picked up a home run, his seventh of the season while going 1-for-4 with a walk.  Díaz now has three home runs in his last nine games, but is still batting just .213/.330/.533 for Sacramento since joining the team.
  • Jason Krizan led the River Cats with three hits, hitting his eighth double and first triple of the year.  Krizan has been having a tough year, but is now batting .239/.311/.385 with eight doubles, a triple, and two home runs in 31 games at Triple-A.
  • Heliot Ramos was 2-for-5 with a pair of singles.  It’s his second multi-hit game in a row, and overall he’s 5-for-12 (.417) with a home run and two walks to three strikeouts in three games so far in June.
  • Raynel Espinal had a bit of a rough start, despite tying his season-high of nine strikeouts for the third time this season.  He allowed six runs, all earned, on a season-high nine hits, two of which were home runs.  The game puts Espinal’s ERA over 4.00 for the first time all season, now at 4.20.

AA: Akron 4, Richmond 3

Richmond Notes:

  • Brandon Martorano had a double and a triple on a 2-for-3 day with a HBP.  The three triples puts him in a tie for 7th in the Eastern League for triples, notable as a catcher.  He’s got a batting line of .257/.350/.522.
  • Brett Auerbach went 2-for-4 with his third double and a walk.  In his last eight games, Auerbach has four of his extra-base hits, with two doubles and two home runs.
  • Armani Smith was 1-for-4 with his third double at Double-A.  He has three doubles and a triple in 12 games at Double-A, and had just one double and one triple but with four home runs in 24 games down at High-A.
  • Matt Frisbee took the start, allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks in 6.0 innings.  In 41.2 innings so far this season, Frisbee has struck out 36 to 14 walks.
  • R.J. Dabovich had a scoreless inning with a strikeout.  He now has 26 strikeouts to five walks in 19.1 innings, and lowered his average allowed to .192.

High-A: Everett 5, Eugene 1

Eugene Notes:

  • Luis Toribio led the way on a weak offensive day for the Emeralds, going 2-for-3 with his fourth double and fourth home runs of the season.  It’s Toribio’s second game in a row with a home run, but his first double since May 20th.  Toribio is still hitting just .190/.305/.370 on the season.
  • Hunter Bishop was 1-for-4, but had his fifth double of the season.  So far, it’s been a good June for Bishop, going 5-for-18 (.278) with two doubles and a home run.
  • Nick Swiney took the rough start, giving up four runs in 4.0 innings, with five hits and a walk allowed and six strikeouts.  Swiney’s ERA jumped to 4.45 with this game, and now has 36 strikeouts to 15 walks in 30.1 innings.
  • Juan Sanchez struck out two in a scoreless inning.  It’s the first time in the last five appearances Sanchez hasn’t allowed a run, as his ERA has jumped from 2.38 to 6.30 over that span.
  • Ty Weber also struck out a pair in a scoreless inning, although he gave up a hit.  In 30.2 innings this season, he’s struck out 25 with six walks.

Low-A: San Jose 6, Stockton 5

San Jose Notes:

  • Grant McCray led the Giants with four hits, going 4-for-5 with his 11th double and 14th steal of the season.  It’s the third time this season that McCray has reached four hits in a game.  He’s batting .291/.379/.517 on the year.
  • Victor Bericoto hit his fifth home run of the year while going 1-for-4 with a walk.  It was Bericoto’s first home run in nearly three weeks, with his last one coming on May 14th.
  • Max Wright got his first home run of the year, while going 1-for-3 with a walk, in his 26th game of the season.  Wright played in just 22 games in his first pro season in 2021, and had one home run in that season.
  • Vaun Brown didn’t get a hit, but got on base twice with a walk and a HBP, and picked up his team-leading 21st steal of the season.  Brown is batting .354/.443/.641 on the year, and he has those 21 steals have come on 22 attempts.
  • Starter Keaton Winn gave up two runs on five hits and two walks with just two strikeouts.  It was Winn’s lowest strikeout total since becoming a starter, but he still has 45 strikeouts to 13 walks in 32.2 innings.
  • Julio Rodriguez struck out the side in a scoreless inning, giving up a single hit.  He now has 28 strikeouts in 14.1 innings, with nine walks.
