AA: Richmond 7, Somerset 6 (11 Innings)
Richmond Notes:
- After two hitless games, Vince Fernandez made up for the zeros with a 4-hit game and falling a triple short of the cycle, with his 11th home run and 3rd double. He’s batting 14-for-30 (.467) with four home runs in July.
- With today’s double, Heliot Ramos has hit one in three straight games, and has had an extra-base hit in each of his last seven games (four doubles, three home runs). Ramos has raised his slugging percentage from .377 to .419 over those seven games.
- Diego Rincones had his first multi-hit game in Double-A. He’s 5-for-24 (.208) in seven games at his new level.
- Starter Michael Plassmeyer had his shortest start since joining Richmond, going just three innings. He has a 4.34 ERA for the Squirrels, with a .297 batting average allowed.
- R.J. Dabovich issued another walk, his fourth in four appearances in July. Before this stretch, he’d walked just one in his first five games in Richmond, and six in 12.2 innings at Eugene.
High-A: Eugene 12, Spokane 6
Eugene Notes:
- A day after hitting his first home run of the season, Heath Quinn hit two more. 10 games into his 2021 season, Quinn is batting .313/.371/.688.
- Tyler Fitzgerald hit his first home run since hitting three in a single series against Vancouver in late June. He has eight on the season.
- Franklin Labour hit a home run for the second straight game, also giving him eight on the season. Labour has hit 11-for-33 with two home runs and a triple in July.
- Starter Conner Nurse tied a season-worst with eight hits allowed, but he allowed them in just 3.0 innings, rather than the 5.0 it took previously. Nurse has struck out 52 while walking 29 in 55.2 innings.
Low-A: San Jose 13, Modesto 1
San Jose Notes:
- Alexander Canario had one of his bigger days, picking up his 11th double and 9th home run. Canario has been inching his stats up all month, and he has upped his batting line to .239/.330/.448.
- Glow-up July is real, as Jimmy Glowenke had his career-first 4-hit day, and second straight day with two doubles. He’s now batting .432/.490/.795 in July with seven doubles and three home runs. Through his first two months, Glowenke was batting just .179/.265/.248.
- Carson Ragsdale struck out six but also tied a season-high with four walks. He only gave up a run, nudging his ERA down to 4.09.
- Marco Luciano had his first 3-hit games since June 29th, and picked up only his first double of July.
- Patrick Bailey got his first hits in San Jose in his second game at the level, and they were both doubles. Bailey had nine doubles in 33 games at Eugene earlier in the season.
- Luis Matos notched his 16th double of the season, and is now batting .288/.327/.434 on the season with those doubles, a triple, and five home runs.
- Abel Adames made his second appearance at San Jose, remaining unscored upon. He’s struck out five with a walk in 4.0 IP.
