Sacramento Notes:

  • Arismendy Alcántara just keeps hitting home runs.  Five in the last six games, seven in the month of July.  This gives him 13 on the season, and he’s batting what would be a career-high .333 batting average.
  • Mauricio Dubón is back to his multi-hit gamest in Sacramento, with his second 4-hit game in eleven at the level.  He’s batting .420 since being optioned back to Triple-A.
  • Akeel Morris picked up his first win at Sacramento in his second start, despite giving up four runs in five innings.
  • Mitchell Tolman had his second 3-hit game in three games.  He’s 13-for-44 (.295) in the month of July.
  • Camilo Doval didn’t let any runners score, with three runs allowed over his last couple of outings.  He did allow three hits, and his batting average allowed increased to .284 while in Sacramento.

AA: Somerset 3, Richmond 2

Richmond Notes:

  • Andres Angulo hit his second home run of the season as part of a multi-hit game.  Angulo is batting .236/.282/.336 across 33 games.
  • Heliot Ramos returned from his Futures Game duties, and continued where he left off with his 13th double of the season.  Aside from the All-Star interruption, Ramos is 9-for-25 (.360) with three doubles and three home runs over his past six games.
  • Raffi Vizcaino made his first start in the past two seasons, acting in an opener capacity for a bullpen game.  It was his first appearance in the last four without allowing a run.
  • Patrick Ruotolo made just his second multi-inning appearance of the season, going two scoreless innings with two strikeouts, a base hit and a walk.His ERA is under 2.00 for the first time since May 22nd.

High-A: Eugene 12, Spokane 4

Eugene Notes:

  • In his 9th game, Heath Quinn got his first home run of the season.  Quinn’s season high in home runs is 14, which he hit in High-A San Jose in 2018.
  • Franklin Labour’s 7th home run of his season was his first since June 20th.  Labour’s 3-hit game gives him a .300 batting average in July (9-for-30).
  • In his 9th game, Brett Auerbach hit his second home run with Eugene, matching the total he had in 34 games at San Jose earlier in the season.
  • Aaron Phillips was limited to just one strikeout for the second time this season.  In 42.1 innings this season, Phillips has 28 strikeouts to 18 walks in 42.1 innings, with 62 hits allowed.
  • Ryan Walker had his fifth consecutive scoreless outing, and also his fifth consecutive outing without a walk.  He has struck out 44 against five walks in 28.2 innings.

Low-A: San Jose 9, Modesto 2

San Jose Notes:

  • Jairo Pomares picked up his fifth home run of the season.  He also picked up his first walk in the month of July, a span of 43 at-bats.  He has a .322/.380/.700 batting line.
  • Jimmy Glowenke’s glow-up July continued with a pair of doubles, giving him five in the month and 11 on the season.  Glowenke is batting .395 (15-for-38) on the month, and has raised his season batting average from .179 to .232.
  • Prelander Berroa had his second start without any earned runs over his last two months.  He lowered his ERA to 2.83, and has held batters to a .235 batting average this season.
  • Ivan Armstrong gave up his first earned run since June 26th, bumping his ERA up to 1.78.
  • Patrick Bailey made his debut in San Jose, after moving up from ACL.  He was 0-for-4 with a sacrifice fly, and two strikeouts.

ACL: ACL Giants Black 10, ACL Royals Gold 3

ACL Giants Black Notes:

  • In 5 games in July, Jacob Gonzalez has hits in only two of them.  In each of those two games, Gonzalez has multiple hits and a home run.  He’s batting .313/.421/.688 in July.
  • Yorlis Rodriguez hit his first home run while netting his first multi-hit game since the ACL’s Opening Day, raising his batting average to .273.
  • Dilan Rosario hit his first home of the season in his 12th game.  Rosario is batting .206 (7-for-34) on the season so far.
  • Alexander Suarez hit his second double of the ACL season, and also collected his fourth stolen base in his 11th games.
  • Rafael Martinez made his third start of the summer, making it to five innings for the first time.  He has 13 strikeouts to 12 walks in 12.1 innings this season.

ACL: ACL Angels 7, ACL Giants Orange 1

ACL Giants Orange Notes:

  • George Bell broke a 3-game hitless streak to put up a multi-hit game.  He’s batting .257/.366/.457 in the young ACL season.
  • Garrett Frechette now has doubles in three of his last four games.  He has yet to draw a walk in 15 plate appearances in the ACL.
  • Aeverson Arteaga only managed a single after his season-opening 10-game hit streak snapped on Monday.  He’s batting .390/.479/.780 on the season.
  • Starter Sonny Vargas matched a season-high 5.0 innings in his fourth start.  He has 18 strikeouts and five walks in 11.2 innings this summer.

DSL Giants Black Notes:

  • Javier Francisco only had two plate appearances in his first game, but he made the most of his four in his second.  Francisco was 2-for-2 with a double and home run, and walked his other two times.  He has three walks in five plate appearances this season.
  • Yeison Lemos was 3-for-5, after going 1-for-1 with a home run and three walks in his first game.  He struck out making his only out so far in his first two games.
  • 17-year old Panamanian Maruicio Pierre picked up a double on a 2-hit game.
  • Ricardo Estrada went 4.0 innings in his debut start.  The 19-year old from Mexico walked four but also struck out four.

DSL: DSL Yankees2 9, DSL Giants Orange 6

DSL Giants Orange Notes:

  • Eliam Sandoval was the only Orange player with multiple hits, and also got removed early for undisclosed reasons, after he took third on a wild pitch.  He was 0-for-4 in his first game.
  • Derwin Laya’s first hit of the summer was a double.  The 17-year old Venezuelan was 0-for-2 with two walks in his first game.
  • Miguel Mora struck out eight over five innings in his first start, walking none, making him stand out.
