Top Sacramento Performances:

  • Tyler FItzgerald was 1-for-4 with a double on the day.  Over his last four games, Fitzgerald has gone 6-for-16 with a double and two home runs.  He hasn’t drawn a walk since June 30th, however.  His batting line sits at .279/.339/.482.
  • Making his Triple-A debut was Marco Luciano, who went 1-for-4 with a strikeout.  Luciano was hitting .228/.339/.450 with 12 doubles and 11 home runs in 56 games at Double-A.
  • Starting pitcher Mason Black gave up three runs on six hits and two walks in 5.0 innings.  He struck out six, but gave up two home runs, his first two in Triple-A in his second start.  In 16 games (63.0 innings at Double-A), he gave up a total of seven home runs.  Black has a 2.70 ERA after 10.0 innings with Sac, with 14 strikeouts to six walks.

Top Richmond Performances:

  • DH Donovan Walton had the big hit for Richmond, hitting a solo home run on a 1-for-4 day.  In five games at Double-A since getting promoted (and including 22 other games at ACL and Eugene), he now has two home runs.  He’s 6-for-18 (.333) with a .368 OBP and a .667 OBP at Richmond.
  • Starting pitcher Ryan Murphy gave up two runs (one earned) on one hit, two walks, and one HBP, while striking out six in 4.0 innings.  That drops his ERA from 5.14 to 4.96 in this game, and he has 65 strikeouts to 34 walks in 65.1 innings.

Top Eugene Performances:

  • Aeverson Arteaga had a big game, going 2-for-4 with a home run and a double, with a walk and a strikeout.  That gives him 18 doubles and 11 home runs to go with three triples in 81 games this season.  Arteaga’s batting line is at .219/.301/.400.
  • The rehabbing Sean Roby had another home run, this time hitting a grand slam on a 2-for-4 day with a walk.  Through five games, Roby is 7-for-23 (.304) with three home runs and a double, with a walk and three strikeouts.  He has seven home runs overall in 24 games this season, 19 of which were on ACL.
  • Starting pitcher Hayden Birdsong struck out seven in 5.0 innings, allowing one run on just one hit, which was a home run.  In six games at Eugene, Birdsong has a 3.67 ERA, with 37 strikeouts to seven walks in 27.0 innings.
  • A scary line for catcher Adrian Sugastey, who got hit by a pitch in the head in his first plate appearance by a pitcher who had no control (and didn’t get an out).  Although he stayed in the game to run, scoring on Arteaga’s home run, he was lifted immediately after.  There’s no word on his condition.

  • Andrew Kachel had a strong game, going 2-for-3 with a double and a home run.  It was Kachel’s first home run since May 27th, giving him four on the season.  He’s batting .290/.373/.435 with 17 doubles and a triple to go with those home runs, and 31 walks to 63 strikeouts.
  • Right fielder Tanner O’Tremba also had a home run, going 1-for-3 with a walk.  O’Tremba has a batting line of .266/.399/.428 with 17 doubles, two triples, and five home runs.
  • Second baseman Diego Velasquez went 2-for-4 with a double of his own, and had an error, his ninth of the season.  That gives him 18 doubles, a triple, and six home runs.  He’s got a batting line of .309/.394/.443 with 34 walks to 58 strikeouts.
  • Starting pitcher Manuel Mercedes had five shutout innings, giving up just three hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Mercedes dropped his ERA from 3.43 to 3.18.  It’s his first game without allowing a run since May 23rd.  He’s got 49 strikeouts to 29 walks in 70.2 innings.
