Sacramento Notes:

  • Peter Maris hit his sixth double and sixth home run of the season, his first home run since the 4th of July weekend.
  • Mitchell Tolman hit his 9th double and 9th home run on the season.  He’s hitting .271/.330/.495 on the season for Sacramento.
  • Braden Bishop had another 2-hit game.  He’s 9-for-22 (.409) with a double, a triple, and a home run over his last five games.
  • Aaron Sanchez’s on-again-off-again rehab moved back to San Jose, after he last pitched on July 10th at San Jose.  The 4.2 innings was his longest rehab game.
  • Kervin Castro has hit a rough patch over his last two games, each time giving up a pair of runs.  He gave up his first walks since June 19th, a span of 10 innings without a walk.  On the season, he’s struck out 37 and walked 16 in 27.0 innings.
  • Camilo Doval went two scoreless innings, allowing just a hit and a walk.  In the month of July, in six outings, Doval has averaged exactly one walk and two strikeouts in each inning.

AA: Richmond 7, Somerset 3 (6 Innings)

Richmond Notes:

  • Will Wilson hit his first home run at Double-A, in his 11th game.  Wilson had been batting .178/.245/.267 since his promotion.
  • Diego Rincones also hit his first Double-A home run in his 9th game at the level.  Rincones has been off to a soft start in Double-A, just 6-for-31 with a batting line of .194/.265/.290.
  • Simon Whiteman hit his second home run in Richmond, giving him three total on the year.  Whiteman has a .231/.314/.361 batting line in Richmond in 28 games; in the same number of games, he was hitting .268/.413/.366 in High-A Eugene.
  • Vince Fernandez hit his 13th home run of the season, second in as many games, and third in the last four games.
  • Trenton Toplikar made the start, only going four innings in the rain shortened game.  His strikeout touch has gone away, as he’s struck out only three in his last six innings.
  • Jose Marte had his first game without a run since July 2nd.  Over his previous three games, Marte walked eight batters over 4.2 innings, but only walked one today.

High-A: Eugene 10, Spokane 9

Eugene Notes:

  • Tyler Fitzgerald had a huge day, with two doubles and a home run, giving him 14 and 10 respectively.  This was his third straight game with a home run, and he raised his batting line to .263/.352/.469.
  • Ricardo Genovés had his second straight game with a home run, his first two at High-A.  In 17 games at Eugene, he’s batting .222/.328/.370 with two doubles and two home runs.
  • Brett Auerbach hit his third home run at Eugene, which took him just 12 games.  He had only two in San Jose, over 34 games there in Low-A.
  • Seth Corry gave up a season-high seven runs on four hits, four walks, and two hit batters.  In 54.2 innings, Corry has issued 54 walks and hit an additional 15 batters, though he’s struck out 85.

Low-A: San Jose 5, Modesto 4

San Jose Notes:

  • Luis Matos made up more than half of San Jose’s hits, and continues an amazing hot streak over his last five games.  He’s batting 11-for-24 (.458) with two doubles and a home run.  He’s got a batting line of .304/.342/.458 overall this season.
  • Patrick Bailey hit his first home run in his stint at Low-A San Jose, four games into it.  He’s 5-for-19 with two doubles and a home run, but also has six strikeouts to no walks.
  • Kyle Harrison had one of his shortest starts of the season, going just 2.2 innings that took 70 pitches, in which he struggled with his command a bit.
  • Abel Adames gave up his first run of the summer, in his fourth game.  Adames last had a 6.55 ERA in 16 games at Short-A.

ACL: ACL Giants Black 2, ACL Giants Orange 1

ACL Giants Black Notes:

  • Starter Jorge Garcia had a monster day.  He struck out a career-high 11 in 5.0 innings, after striking out just 15 in his first 16.0 innings of the summer.  
  • Luis Alexander Basabe continued his rehab with his first home run of the summer in his 10th game in the ACL.
  • Yorlis Rodriguez had his fourth straight game with a hit, and is 6-for-13 over that span.

DSL Giants Black Notes:

  • After going hitless in his first two games, Elian Rayo’s 3-hit game means he’s 4-for-14 (.286) after four games, with ahome run on the 15th.
  • In Javier Castillo’s first game of the summer, the 17-year old catcher hit two doubles.
  • Javier Francisco picked up his second double of the summer.  The 18-year old has one of the better lines early in the summer, batting 5-for-10 with two doubles, a triple and a home run, with four walks and no strikeouts.  That’s a .500/.625/.1200 line.
  • Starter Johnny Grullon made his debut with a short 3-inning start.

DSL Giants Orange Notes:

  • Saul Batista hit his first extra-base hits of the summer, with a double and a home run, in his fifth game.
  • Jhosward Camacho had his second 2-steal game in a row, giving him four on the season, but also got his first hits on a 3-hit day.
  • Freddery Tremaria picked up his first double and first walk of the summer.  He’s batting .300/.364/.400 on the season.
  • Starter German Malave made his first appearance of the summer, going just three innings.
