Heliot Ramos has turned his season around as he’s come back from injury, as he got two extra-base hits among three hits today in Sacramento.  Meanwhile, Wade Meckler just keeps getting on base, and Reggie Crawford bounced back in Eugene in his second start there.

Top Sacramento Performances:

  • Right fielder Heliot Ramos had a great game, going 3-for-4 with a double and a triple, and notably sped around and scored from first on a single thanks to a hit-and-run.  That gives Ramos seven doubles and two triples to go with his six home run in Sacramento over 30 games.  He’s got a .310/.357/.566 batting line so far at the level.
  • Third baseman Tyler Fitzgerald went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, plus a walk and a strikeout.  That gives Fitzgerald ten doubles, along with two triples and 11 home runs, and 21 walks to 60 strikeouts in 54 games.  He’s batting .288/.348/.496.
  • Pinch-hitter Isan Díaz hit a 3-run home run in his only at-bat.  That was his sixth home run of the season in just 21 games at the level this season.  He’s batting .215/.279/.468 at Triple-A.
  • Starting pitcher Sean Hjelle went 5.0 innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk, with just two strikeouts.  Hjelle’s ERA has been hanging around the 5.63 level it’s at over the last three games, and he now has just 43 strikeouts to 21 walks in 54.1 innings.

Top Richmond Performances:

  • Wade Meckler, playing the DH, was 2-for-2 with a walk, and got caught stealing once.  Meckler increased his batting line to .352/.440/.467 with six doubles, a triple, and two home runs, with 19 walks to 20 strikeouts, and three steals in five attempts.
  • Simon Whiteman was 1-for-1 with a walk, and added two steals.  That gives Whiteman just ten steals in 11 attempts, and his batting line after 71 games in .209/.298/.286.
  • Andy Thomas was 2-for-3 with a strikeout.  That bumped up his batting average to .221/.316/.373 with nine doubles, a triple, and nine home runs.
  • Carson Seymour went 4.2 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks, with seven strikeouts.  Seymour now has 59 strikeouts to 30 walks in 73.2 innings, and held his ERA at just about the same level at 3.91.

Top Eugene Performances:

  • Matt Higgins had one of the team’s two extra base hits, going 2-for-3 hits with a double and a walk.  After four games, he has two doubles and a home run, with three walks and no strikeouts.  He had 18 doubles, a triple, and 19 home runs in 64 games at San Jose before his promotion.
  • First baseman Sean Roby was 1-for-4 with a double, giving him two at the level as his rehab continues.  He’s 8-for-27 (.296) with two doubles and three home runs over six games in Eugene.
  • Reggie Crawford went one inning in the start, giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts without any runs.  In Eugene, he’s gone two innings and allowed one run, on two hits and three walks to three strikeouts.
  • Reliever Mat Olsen only went 0.2 innings, but struck out two.  He now has 57 strikeouts against 13 walks in 37.0 innings, and lowered his ERA to 3.41 after 27 games.  That’s the same ERA he had overall in San Jose and Eugene in 2022 over 36 games.

Top San Jose Performances:

  • Jose Ramos led the team in hitting , going 3-for-4 with three singles and a stolen base.  Ramos has a little 6-game hitting streak, having gone 10-for-23 (.435) over that stretch, though with just one double, and one walk to four strikeouts.  His overall batting line is still just .208/.302/.292.
  • DH Tanner O’Tremba had an abbreviated game, going 1-for-1 with a walk and a steal.  His second at-bat resulted in a walk and a steal.  When his batting spot came around in the 5th inning, he was pinch-hit for.  The reason is unclear.
  • Starting pitcher Dylan Cumming had five scoreless innings, allowing five hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  His ERA slipped down to 2.26 after just his second start of the season in 25 total appearances, and he has 47 strikeouts to 21 walks in 51.2 innings.
  • Reliever Tyler Vogel went 2.0 scoreless innings, giving up just two hits while striking out three.  Vogel’s ERA sits at 4.93, and he now has 46 strikeouts against 23 walks in 38.1 innings.

  • Outfielder Cesar Quintas was 2-for-4 with a strikeout.  Quintas is 33-for-82 (.402) with a .554 on-base percentage and a .549 slugging percentage, with nine doubles and one home run.
  • Damon Dues also had a pair of hits, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.  Dues is 5-for-17 (.294) over six games, with six walks to three strikeouts.  In his rehab, he has a batting line of .294/.478/.294.
  • Relief pitcher Jason Bonilla went three shutout innings, striking out a season-high six while allowing just one hit and two walks.  That lowered his ERA from 8.31 to 7.08, and he now has 19 strikeouts to 25 walks in 20.1 innings.

  • Second baseman Ramon Peralta was 2-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts.  After 29 games, Peralta has walked 17 times to striking out 31 times.  His batting line is at .295/.427/.463.
