Sacramento Notes:

  • Mauricio Dubón got one of the only two hits of the Cats on this day.  Overall in Triple-A, Dubón is 50-for-143 with six doubles, two triples, and three home runs, with 18 walks to 27 strikeouts.
  • Bryce Johnson came into the game in the very first at-bat after Steven Duggar injured himself.  He would get the other Sacramento hit.  There was no news on Duggar’s status.
  • Scott Kazmir made his return to the Giants organization after the Olympics, with a tough game in the elevation of Salt Lake.  Kazmir has a 4.40 ERA over in Sacramento, which only consists of eight appearances.
  • Kervin Castro bounced back from allowing a run to not allowing a baserunner in two innings.  He’s held batters to an average of just .206 in Triple-A.

ACL Giants Black Notes:

  • Alexander Suarez hit his 7th double and 2nd triple of the summer.  He’s got a batting line of .336/.394/.560 in 33 games at the ACL.
  • Hunter Bishop picked up a hit for the fourth game of the last five.  He’s 4-for-11 with a double over that span, after going 0-for-9 to start his rehab.
  • Jacob Gonzalez hit a double to break a 2-game hitless streak.  In the ACL, he’s batting .293/.348/.507.
  • Esmerlin Vinicio had his roughest start of the season, allowing season highs or season-high-tying five hits, five runs, and four earned runs.  His ERA jumped from 1.89 to 2.61 after the one game.

ACL Giants Orange Notes:

  • Aeverson Arteaga hit his first triple of the season.  Arteaga’s power surge has ebbed away, as he hit seven doubles and seven home runs in the month of July, but has just two doubles and a triple, and no home runs, in the first half of August.
  • Adrian Sugastey had a 2-hit game, hitting his 3rd double on the month, and 6th double of the summer.  Sugastey has a batting line of .353/.385/.441.
  • Garrett Frechette had his 2nd 2-hit game out of his last four games, and added two walks.  In 28 games in the ACL, he has 17 walks to 30 strikeouts in 104 plate appearances.
  • Sonny Vargas allowed 24 hits in his first 19.2 innings through the end of July, but he’s allowed just five hits in 16.0 innings since then, with 19 strikeouts to just two walks.
