AAA: Sacramento 10, Reno 5
Sacramento Notes:
- Jason Krizan hit two home runs, giving him 12 of the season, and also adding his 23rd double. Krizan has a .324/.375/.504 batting line on the season with Sacramento.
- Peter Maris has only been playing about once out of every 4-5 games recently, and hit his first home run since July 19th. He has 8 home runs on the season in Triple-A in 60 games.
- Bryce Johnson kept up with Maris in the home run race, hitting his eighth as well as his fifth triple, and falling just a double short of the cycle. Johnson is 18-for-42 (.429) on the month, with four doubles, two triples, and two home runs.
- Matt Shoemaker had his best start since joining the Giants organization, allowing just one run in 5.0 innings.
- Kervin Castro had another scoreless inning. So far in August, Castro has had a 0.90 ERA, with just one run allowed in 10.0 innings, six hits allowed, and 15 strikeouts to three walks.
- Sunday’s game was returned to Reno, despite the initial announcement after Friday’s postponement.
AA: Cancelled
- Rain cancelled this game after the 4th inning. It will not be made up, so the stats from this game won’t count.
- If they game had counted, Will Wilson would’ve had his sixth home run of the season
High-A: Eugene 5, Tri-City 1
Eugene Notes:
- Franklin Labour picked up his fifth triple of the season as he got on base three times out of four plate appearances. Labour has 58 walks in 354 at-bats, and has a .360 on-base percentage over a .224 batting average.
- Robert Emery came back after missing eight game, to get two hits. After 20 games in Eugene, Emery has a .338/.427/.477 batting line.
- Ismael Munguia has played only nine games this August, and not only has hits in every single one of them, but has gotten just one hit only once. He’s 22-for-40 (.550) in August, with six doubles, a triple, and a home run.
- Seth Corry made his first appearance in a month, not allowing any hits and two walks, with two strikeouts. Corry has 91 strikeouts to 61 walks in 61.1 innings this season.
- Conner Nurse pitched the lion’s share of the innings in a relief role. With one run in five innings, Nurse has a 3.08 ERA over five appearances in August, with 31 strikeouts and ten walks in 26.1 innings.
Low-A: Lake Elsinore 2, San Jose 1
San Jose Notes:
- Luis Matos hit a double, part of a 2-hit game after he’d gone hitless in two straight. It was the first extra-base hit for Matos since August 18th. Matos has 28 doubles, a triple, and 12 home runs over 93 games.
- Grant McCray picked up a hit, and his third steal in four attempts at San Jose. Overall, McCray has six steals in eight attempts between San Jose and Scottsdale.
- Luis Toribio was without a hit, but picked up three walks. Toribio has 52 walks in 337 plate appearances this season.
- Carson Ragsdale had a solid start, taking a tough luck loss. He’s struck out seven for the second game in a row, and it gives him 150 strikeouts to 39 walks in 99.1 innings.
