After a very, very slow start in Double-A, Victor Bericoto has really turned on the power recently, including now three straight games with a home run.  Meanwhile, Heliot Ramos is also on a bit of a roll, as he had a double and a home run on Friday, while a couple of rehabbing pitchers were on the mound in Sacramento.

Top Sacramento Performances:

  • Heliot Ramos had another strong game, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk.  That’s his 12th double and 11th home run in 49 games at Triple-A, along with three triples.  His batting line is up to .311/.378/.599 on the season.
  • Third baseman Armando Alvarez went 1-for-1 with a home run, a walk, and a sacrifice fly.  That gives Alvarez 14 home runs in 61 games this season at Sacramento.  He’s hitting .307/.363/.572 with 21 walks to 38 strikeouts.
  • Making his first rehab appearance since his most recent IL stint was Ross Stripling, who allowed a run on two hits in one inning, while striking out one.  Stripling was last seen in the big leagues on August 16th, and he had a 5.29 ERA with 61 strikeouts to 11 walks in 78.1 innings, but also 20 home runs allowed.

  • Center fielder Carter Howell led Eugene in hitting, and was the only player with multiple hits, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two walks.  That gives Howell five home runs in Eugene after 73 games, after he hit four in 39 games at San Jose.  He’s hitting .276/.353/.416 at High-A, with 32 walks to 61 strikeouts at the level.
  • Left fielder Jared Dupere was 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk, and two strikeouts.  That ups his home run total to 11 after 88 games in Eugene, and ups his batting line to .247/.315/.426 with 28 walks to 142 strikeouts.
  • Third baseman Thomas Gavello went 1-for-3 with a home run, finally hitting his first home run in Eugene in his 24th game at the level.  He previous had ten home runs in 59 games at San Jose.  He’s slugging just .276 above a .224 batting average in Eugene with just one double and the one home run in those 24 games.

  • Starting pitcher Cale Lansville went 2.0 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out two.  The 14th round pick has a 4.50 ERA in two games at San Jose, after he had a 2.25 ERA in three games at Arizona before hand.  So far in San Jose, he has struck out five to two walks in 4.0 innings.
