AAA: Sacramento 5, Tacoma 3
Sacramento Notes:
- Jason Vosler hit his 14th home run of his Triple-A season. He’s batting .262/.365/.545 in Sacramento this season.
- Jason Krizan had his 9th multi-hit game of the last 13, with his 25th double of the season. He’s raised his line to .329/.377/.520.
- Logan Ondrusek had a strong start, allowing just one hit and two walks. In 27.1 innings at Sacramento, he’s allowed 27 hits.
- Sammy Long allowed two runs in his second game since returning to Triple-A. He’s only struck out one and walked one in 4.0 innings since his return. In 20.1 total innings at Triple-A, he’s struck out 26 with seven walks.
AA: Richmond 15, Akron 5
Richmond Notes:
- Frankie Tostado had his second 2-hit day in a row, and picked up his 12th home run on the season.
- Luis Alexander Basabe hit his second home run in Double-A, in his 19th game. He’s got a .224/.375/.379 in Richmond, with three doubles, two home runs.
- Diego Rincones hit his eighth double of the season. He’s 7-for-17 (.412) with a double a home run in four games this season.
- David Villar extended his hitting streak to six games as he hit his 26th double, and also walked twice. He’s 99-for-359 with 107 strikeouts to 44 walks on the season.
- Aaron Blair had a rough start, allowing four runs in 4.1 innings on three hits, two walks, and two hit batters.
High-A: Doubleheader
Game 1: Eugene 2, Everett 1 (7 Innings)
Game 2: Everett 9, Eugene 2 (7 Innings)
Eugene Notes:
- You can’t stop Ismael Munguia, who played only in Game 1, going 3-for-4 with his ninth home run of the season. Over September, he’s 16-for-34 (.471) with two doubles and two home runs.
- Brett Auerbach hit his 14th home run with Eugene, but was just 1-for-6 with a walk in the doubleheader. He still has a batting line of .250/.327/.533.
- Conner Nurse threw a complete 7-inning game in Game 1, and notched a season-high 10 strikeouts on the season. He’s now got 110 strikeouts in 111.0 IP, with 50 walks.
- Jake Dahlberg led the Game 2 pitching staff, but allowed five runs on seven hits, a walk, and a hit batter.
- Eugene will not play over the weekend due to scheduling conflicts with the University of Oregon, and have finished their home season.
Low-A: San Jose 6, Stockton 0
San Jose Notes:
- Carson Ragsdale had his best start in quite some time, with his first game without allowing a run since June 15th. After striking out six and walking one, Ragsdale now has 162 strikeouts to 42 walks in 108.2 IP.
- Jimmy Glowenke had a 3-hit game, his first with at least that many hits since back on July 14th. Glowenke is hitting just .208 (5-for-24) this September even after the three hits.
- Luis Matos picked up a pair of hits, raising his season batting average back up to .300 after it had briefly dipped under that line. He’s gone 5-for-30 (.167) this September, and his average has dropped from .310 since the start of the month.
- Abdiel Layer got just his third triple of the season on a 2-hit day. On the season, Layer has 10 doubles, three triples, and 11 home runs.
- The win clinched a playoff spot for San Jose in the Low-A West Championship Series. San Jose will play Fresno, in their first season in Single-A since getting relegated in MLB’s reorganization.
ACL: ACL Giants Black 3, ACL Athletics 2
ACL Giants Black Notes:
- Alexander Suarez had a big day in center field, hitting his 15th double and sixth home run on the season. He’s having a strong September, going 9-for-24 (.375) with four doubles and a home run.
- 2nd round pick Matt Mikulski made his third appearance of the season, his first without a run allowed. Over 3.0 innings, he’s struck out four, and allowed four hits to one walk.
- 12th round pick Landen Roupp went two innings in his third appearance of the summer. After allowing two runs on two hits and a walk in his first appearance this year, he’s allowed just one hit in the three innings since. Overall, he has eight strikeouts to one walk in 4.0 IP.
ACL: ACL Giants Orange 5, ACL Rockies 4
ACL Giants Orange Notes:
- Anthony Rodriguez hit his third home run of the summer, and his first since August 12th.
- After going hitless in his last game, Vaun Brown picked up a pair of hits, including his 5th double of the summer, and has gone 12-for-27 (.444) with four doubles, two triples, and a home run over his last seven games.
- Nomar Medina made his second start of the summer, going a season-high five innings, allowing five hits and no walks, but also his first two hit batters of the season (in 31.0 IP).
DSL: DSL Giants Black 6, DSL Phillies White 3
DSL Giants Black Notes:
- Onil Perez hit his second double and second home run of the season. He’s 7-for-14 so far in September, with five walks to just one strikeout in five games.
- Johnny Grullon had one of his season’s better starts, allowing just three hits and a walk. In 23.2 innings this season, he’s struck out 19 and eight walks.
DSL: DSL Giants Orange 9, DSL Brewers2 7
DSL Giants Orange Notes:
- Derwin Laya hit his third home run of the season, and first since August 17th, 12 games ago. It was a 10th inning home run to give the Giants the lead.
- Cesar Quintas also hit a home run, a 10th inning affair to ice the game. It was his first of the season in his 24th game of the summer.
- Mikell Manzano bounced back from his worst game of the year to allow just two runs, one earned. His nine strikeouts were a season-high, and he has 48 strikeouts to two walks in 33.2 innings.
