Some teams are open with sharing their instructional league game footage, but the San Francisco Giants are not one of them.  Luckily, two of their young players have taken it upon themselves to share.

Of course, neither of this footage is great (Instagram does not make for a good horizontal video format sharing system), and since this footage is coming from the video cameras the Giants are doing scouting video from, there’s no professional cuts or alternate angles.

The Matos home run in particular is impressive, as he stays back on a breaking pitch, catches it in front of the plate, and uppercuts it out of the park (so we are told, since we don’t see the landing spot).  Matos, 18, had a huge pro debut, batting .362/.430/.570 in the DSL in 2019 with 7 home runs in 55 games, and was promoted to the AZL, where he hit .438/.550/.500 in five games.

We don’t get as great of a look at the Ricardo Genoves home run, but it looks like he takes a hanging breaking ball down the middle of the plate out of the park.  The 21-year old Genoves hit .265/.336/.469 in 51 games between Salem-Keizer and Augusta in 2019 in his fourth pro season.  The catcher is one of three highly ranked backstop prospects in the Giants system, with Joey Bart and 2020 first round pick Patrick Bailey.
