As the big league team keeps having to plunder Sacramento as injuries mount, David Villar was left behind and he let the team know about it, with a huge game.  Plus, Sacramento does something to Tacoma that hasn’t happened all season!  Meanwhile, a Logan Wyatt home run keyed another Richmond win.

Top Sacramento Performances:

  • David Villar led the way for Sacramento in this game, going 3-for-3 with two walks and two home runs.  Villar now has 12 home runs and nine doubles after 50 games in Triple-A, with 27 walks to 57 strikeouts and a batting line of .286/.378/.521.
  • The other Sacramento home run belonged to Armando Alvarez, who went 2-for-5 on the day, with the home run and a steal.  Alvarez also now has 12 home runs in 51 games at Sacramento, along with 11 doubles and a triple.  His batting line is up to .307/.359/.581.
  • Brett Wisely went 2-for-5 with a triple and a stolen base.  That’s Wisely’s first triple in 48 games in Triple-A, with 16 doubles and five home runs.  He also now has seven steals in eight attempts.  He’s batting .287/.430/.497.
  • Drew Strotman, working in relief after an opener, had the most innings with 3.2, allowing a hit and three walks, while striking out four.  After 26 games, 13 of which were starts, he has a 6.75 ERA, with 73 strikeouts to 61 walks in 77.1 innings.
  • This was Tacoma’s first time being shut out this season.  The last time they were shut out was August 3rd last season…in Sacramento.

Top Richmond Performances:

  • First baseman Logan Wyatt had the big hit, with a 3-run home run in the team’s 5-run 1st inning, as he was 2-for-4 on the day.  Wyatt now has five home runs in 46 games at Richmond, after hitting eight home runs in 53 games at Eugene previously.  His Eugene batting line is at .231/.320/.381.
  • Designated hitter Sean Roby was 1-for-3 with a double, a HBP, and two strikeouts.  It was Roby’s first double after seven games back in Richmond, and he’s 3-for-23 (.130) with two walks to ten strikeouts.
  • Spencer Bivens was in relief, going 4.1 innings, giving up just one run on four hits and no walks, with four strikeouts.  Bivens has a 4.03 ERA, with 55 strikeouts to 27 walks in 60.1 innings.
  • Clay Helvey was brought in to throw the 9th inning, but the umpires felt that they detected something on his glove, and confiscated it, ejecting him.  Evan Gates still held things off in the 9th inning, giving up two walks while striking out one.

  • First baseman Luis Toribio went 2-for-3 with two doubles, the only extra-base hits for Eugene in the game.  After 89 games, Toribio now has 13 doubles, a triple, and 15 home runs, with a batting line of .233/.344/.432.
  • Catcher Onil Perez was 1-for-2 with a walk.  After four games, Perez is 6-for-11 (.545) with no walks and two strikeouts.  
  • Center fielder Grant McCray also went 1-for-3, with two strikeouts.  McCray has 154 strikeouts in 110 games, with 58 walks.  HIs batting line is up to .253/.354/.412.

  • Designated hitter Tanner O’Tremba had the biggest hit for San Jose, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and a HBP.  O’Tremba has a batting line of .271/.404/.441 now with eight home runs, two triples, and 21 doubles on the season.
  • Shortstop Cole Foster was 1-for-4 with a double and a HBP.  Foster now has three doubles to go with one home run after 12 games at Low-A, going 11-for-52 (.212).
  • Luis Moreno had the best game on the mound for the Giants in relief, going 3.0 scoreless innings with just two hits allowed and four strikeouts.  He now has 55 strikeouts to 17 walks in 53.1 innings, and a 3.54 ERA.
