Sacramento Notes:

  • Yermin Mercedes went 2-for-4 with his fifth home run for Sacramento.  Mercedes has now played as many games (25) in Sacramento as in Charlotte this year.  In Charlotte, he hit .230/.376/.425 with four home runs, while in Sacramento he has hit .287/.358/.479 with five home runs.
  • Jason Krizan went 1-for-4 with his 13th home run, a grand slam in the second inning.  Krizan has two home runs over his last four games, and six home runs in his last 12 games.  
  • Heliot Ramos went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.  In September, Ramos is 5-for-21 (.238) with all singles, but no walks to nine strikeouts.
  • It was a rough start for Ronnie Williams, giving up a season-high six runs in 3.0 innings, on eight hits, two walks, and a HBP, with four strikeouts.  His previous season high was four runs in 2.0 innings in his first game at Sacramento back in Mid-August.  He has a 6.53 ERA in six starts with the River Cats.
  • Reliever R.J. Dabovich worked 2.0 innings, without allowing a baserunner or getting a strikeout.  It’s Dabovich’s first appearance going more than 1.0 inning since July 13th.  He lowered his ERA to 4.15, but still has just 19 strikeouts to 18 walks in 17.1 innings.
  • Cole Waites struck out four of the five batters he faced while earning a 1.2 inning save, his first at Triple-A in his sixth appearance there.  He has 10 strikeouts to three walks in 7.0 innings with Sacramento.  Overall, he has 75 strikeouts to 22 walks in 40.2 innings.

AA: Richmond 8, Bowie 6

Richmond Notes:

  • Tristan Peters had a big game, going 3-for-4 with his first home run with Richmond.  It was his 26th game with his new team.  Peters had previously hit seven home runs in 90 games before his trade at High-A Wisconsin.
  • Jacob Heyward came into this game as a pinch-runner, but had his biggest impact at the plate in his only at-bat, as he hit a 2-run home run in the 9th inning as part of a 5-run rally to come back from 5-3 to notch an 8-6 win.  It’s Heyward’s 9th home run of the season in just 94 games on the season.
  • Will Wilson went 2-for-5 with his sixth Double-A double.  Wilson is having a good last month of the season after he missed a month due to a hamate injury.  He’s 9-for-23 (.391) in September, though he has just one double for all his extra bases in the month.
  • Matt Frisbee gave up three runs on three home runs (out of five hits total) in 5.0 innings.  Frisbee has allowed at least three runs in each of his last three starts now, as he has a 5.23 ERA through 25 appearances.

High-A: Vancouver 9, Eugene 1

Eugene Notes:

  • In an otherwise down game for Eugene, Damon Dues made his High-A debut, going 1-for-3 with a strikeout.  Dues played 13 games in San Jose before this promotion, batting .368/.579/.500 with three doubles and a triple, with 19 walks to four strikeouts.
  • Grant McCray went 1-for-4 with a strikeout, and his fifth stolen base for the Emeralds.  On the season, McCray now has 40 steals in 50 attempts between Eugene and San Jose.
  • Starter Nick Swiney had a rough start, with seven runs, six earned, in 2.0 innings, on five hits and two walks, with three strikeouts.  This makes two rough starts for Swiney as the season is coming to an end, having allowed nine earned runs in his last 5.0 innings, bumping his ERA from 3.11 to 3.84.

Low-A: San Jose 9, Fresno 3

San Jose Notes:

  • Victor Bericto’s hot run finish to the season continued, as he extended his hit streak to seven games with a 3-for-5 day with his 12th home run of the season.  Bericoto went 12-for-30 (.400) with two doubles and one home run.
  • Logan Wyatt went 2-for-4 with a walk with a pair of doubles, in his eighth game at San Jose.  They were his first two extra-base hits of the season between San Jose and 18 games in Arizona.
  • Wade Meckler had a 3-hit game, going 3-for-5 with his sixth double with San Jose.  Meckler has a total of ten doubles in 19 games between San Jose and Arizona.  He’s batting .458/.567/.708 in San Jose.
  • William Kempner made his second start in San Jose, giving up two runs in 2.0 innings on one hit, a home run, and one walk while striking out four.  Overall, the third round pick has a 4.91 ERA in 7.1 innings between Arizona and San Jose, with 10 strikeouts to three walks.
