Grant McCray has had a quiet season, but at least today he had a great day at the plate in San Jose, getting on base every time he came up to the plate. Meanwhile, Casey Schmitt had another great day in Sacramento on his recent streak, and Richmond threw a shutout.

After a surprise storm interrupted Richmond’s game, a 9th inning 5-run comeback led to a huge Richmond walk-off win. And Eugene stormed to a big win with three home runs. And the Giants farm system got its second complete game of the year just a day after getting their “first”…but there’s another crazy asterisk.

For the first time this season, the Giants minor league system threw a complete game…kinda. I mean officially, they had one. But first, it was 7 inning game, in the Dominican Summer League. Secondly, it was suspended in the middle of it, and the same pitcher happened to pick it up now for the completion! But hey, it’s still a complete game! Meanwhile, Casey Schmitt had a home run for his second straight game as he’s starting to get back into a rhythm.

It was a good day if you were playing center field today. Bryce Johnson went 6-for-6 with a home run and a double, while Shane Matheny powered Richmond with two home runs and a double. And it was Kyle Harrison day in Sacramento, as he went longer and had a new strikeout-high since coming back from injury.

Only three games on the docket today, two in the DSL and one in the ACL, with a grand slam and a blowout the highlights. It’s not like there was any other news involving promotions that was interesting on Monday…none at all!
