Sacramento Notes:
- Sacramento had a poor offensive day combined, but Braden Bishop was one of the only Cat’s to collect two hits, including his fifth double. Bishop is batting .322 in 42 games since joining the River Cats, and is just three doubles away from his career-high 8, reached in both 2018 and 2019.
- Heliot Ramos didn’t pick up any hits, but in his first game, he had his second straight game with three walks. In five games with Sacramento, he has six walks to five strikeouts.
- Reyes Moronta made his second rehab appearance. Over 1.2 innings in his rehab, he’s walked three and struck out one.
- Sam Selman walked two for the third time in his last four appearances. He’s got 24 strikeouts to 19 walks in 22.1 innings in Sacramento.
- Glad to see some laughter after this…
AA: Akron 3, Richmond 2
Richmond Notes:
- Vince Fernandez hit a double for the second time in three games. It was the first game for Fernandez with multiple hits since he had a 4-hit game on July 14th.
- Diego Rincones hit his first double since leaving to participate in the Olympic tournament on June 18th. It’s his first double in 16 games at Double-A, a game after his first triple at the level. He’d already hit three home runs.
- Simon Whiteman had two more hits, raising his Double-A batting average to .254, but more notably, was caught stealing for the first time at Double-A, in his 13th attempt.
- For the third time in July, Michael Plassmeyer had a start without allowing a walk. He’s walked just five batters in 41.2 innings at Richmond, with 41 strikeouts.
- Jose Marte had his third consecutive outing without allowing a run, giving up a hit and a walk. In July, he’s struck out 15 with 10 walks in 9.1 IP.
- R.J. Dabovich bounced back from allowing a run to have another scoreless outing, but his first sub-1.0 inning appearance in exactly a month (June 25th). Those are the only two appearances where he’s gotten less than three outs.
High-A: Eugene 6, Hillsboro 5
Eugene Notes:
- Tyler Flores hit his first home run since June 10th. Flores has been having a tough time since his promotion to High-A, batting .177/.290/.316 in 27 games there.
- Nolan Dempsey hit his first home run of the season, after 16 games (four in the ACL, 12 in Eugene.
- Tyler Fitzgerald picked up his 16th double, and his fifth of the month. Fitzgerald is batting .260/.348/.463 on the season, with 16 doubles and 11 home runs.
- Carter Aldrete picked up multiple hits in three of the last four games. He’s raised his batting average to .250, the highest it’s been this season.
- Conner Nurse had another tough game, bouncing his ERA back up to 6.14, where it was two starts ago, but also the highest it’s been since the second start of the season (when it was 6.48).
- Sean Roby walked off the game with a clutch double in the bottom of the 9th. It was Roby’s 12 double of the season, and first since July 20th.
Low-A: San Jose 11, Stockton 5
San Jose Notes:
- Carter Williams started the month with three home runs in two days, but hadn’t hit another one until Sunday. He’s now got five in 21 games played in San Jose.
- Jairo Pomares had a 3-hit game to extend his 7-game hit streak he’s in the midst of, with two doubles. He’s 13-for-28 .464) with 5 doubles and two home runs in the stretch.
- Patrick Bailey came into the game after Rodolfo Bone was removed after striking out in his first at-bat. He picked up a double and a walk. He now has five walks over his past four games, to just four strikeouts (16 plate appearances).
- Carson Ragsdale had a solid start, giving up three runs, but had just his second start without walking a batter. Ragsdale has 108 strikeouts to 29 walks in 66 innings so far this season.
- Sammy Long made his first rehab appearance, going a scoreless inning in his first action since July 3rd.
