  • Shortstop Tyler Fitzgerald led the team in hitting, going 4-for-5 with a double.  It’s Fitzgerald’s second 4-hit game of the season, and he raised his batting average from .273 to .282 in this game.  He’s hitting .282/.341/.487 in Triple-A this season, with 15 doubles, two triples, and 14 home runs.
  • Second baseman David Villar hit a 9th inning home run to help power the Sacramento winning rally, on a 3-for-5 day with a stolen base and a HBP.  That’s Villar’s tenth home run in 42 games at Triple-A.  He’s hitting .263/.357/.500 in Sac.
  • First baseman Armando Alvarez hit a home run of his own, going 2-for-4 with a walk, but also committed a pair of errors.  He has 10 home runs, 10 doubles, and one triple in 43 games at Sacramento.  His batting line is .327/.384/.612.
  • Joey Bart hit just his fourth home run in 42 Triple-A games, going 1-for-4 with a walk.  His last home run was back on July 4th.  His batting line sits at .233/.339/.370 with eight doubles and the four home runs.
  • Right fielder Wade Meckler was 3-for-4 with all singles, plus a walk.  Meckler’s Triple-A batting line inched up to .381/.552/.571 after nine games, with eight walks and five strikeouts.

  • Starting pitcher Mason Black gave up two runs, one earned, off of four hits, four walks and a HBP in 5.0 innings, with five strikeouts.  Black has a 4.33 ERA with 32 strikeouts to 16 walks in 27.0 innings.

Top Richmond Performances:

  • Will Wilson led the team in hitting, going 3-for-4 with a home run and a walk.  That’s two games in a row with a home run for Wilson.  In four games since returning to Double-A, he’s 5-for-18 (.278) with the two home runs, and one walk to two strikeouts.
  • Center fielder Shane Matheny hit his second triple at Double-A on a 1-for-4 day with a walk.  In addition to the two triples, Matheny has 12 doubles and six home runs in 48 games at Richmond, and he’s hitting .261/.392/.467 at the level.
  • Starting pitcher Hayden Birdsong struggled through a difficult inning in his start.  He gave up three runs, all unearned, in his inning of work, on one hit, three walks, a wild pitch, two errors, but did also strike out three, as he threw 41 pitches, only 23 of which were strikeouts.  Birdsong has made just two appearances in Richmond, for an 8,31 ERA in 4.1 innings, with eight strikeouts and six walks in 4.1 innings.
  • Reliever José Cruz struck out four in 1.1 innings, allowing only a walk and a HBP.  Cruz has a 5.85 ERA through 18 games in Double-A, with 31 strikeouts to 22 walks in 20.0 innings.

Top Eugene Performances:

  • First baseman Luis Toribio hit his 14th home run of the season on a 1-for-3 day with a walk.  After nine games in August, Toribio has one double and two home runs, but is hitting .300 (9-for-30), with one walk to ten strikeouts.
  • Second baseman Ghordy Santos also had a home run, going 1-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts.  Santos has ten home runs, three triples, and ten doubles in 70 games this season, with a line of .233/.341/.439.
  • Starter Seth Lonsway struggled with his control a bit, giving up three runs in 3.0 innings, off of two hits, five walks, two wild pitches and two HBP, while striking out three.  In his season with Eugene, Lonsway has a 5.55 ERA with 66 strikeouts to 46 walks in 73.0 innings.

Top San Jose Performances:

  • Third baseman Anthony Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with his fourth home run of the season.    Rodriguez’s last home run came on July 15th.  Rodriguez has 10 doubles, one triple, and four home runs in 48 games this season, with a .234/.290/.359 batting line.

  • Right fielder P.J. Hilson went 1-for-2 with a home run, a sacrifice fly and a HBP.  That gives Hilson nine home runs on the season, with 10 doubles and two triples, with 11 walks to 41 strikeouts.  HIs batting line is at .249/.293/.428.
  • Shortstop Diego Velasquez went 3-for-5 with a double on the day.  Velasquez is hitting .320/.400/.457 with 26 doubles, a triple, and seven home runs on the season in San Jose.
  • Center fielder Turner Hill was 4-for-4 with all singles, plus a walk.  On the basepaths, he stole one base, but was caught stealing twice.  After 53 games, Hill has a batting line of .300/.391/.380, with 29 walks to 28 strikeouts, and now 24 steals in 30 attempts.
