It was a day for Lucky 14!  Or at least, for two of the three minor league teams, and two won by scoring 14 runs, but another lost after giving up 14.  Heliot Ramos helped lead a Sacramento blowout with one of three home runs for the team.  Eugene threw a shutout behind Trevor McDonald.  And 1st round pick Bryce Eldridge made his Low-A debut.

  • Left fielder Trenton Brooks hit his first Sacramento home run in his second game with the Giants organization, going 2-for-5 with a walk.  Before being traded to the Giants, Brooks had 16 home runs in 94 games with Las Vegas of the Athletics organization, hitting .299/.405/.529.  After two games, he’s 2-for-9 (.222) with two walks and one strikeout.
  • Right fielder Heliot Ramos went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, a walk, and a HBP.  That gives him ten doubles and nine home runs, with three triples, after 46 games in Triple-A this season, as he’s hitting .307/.369/.566.
  • Designated hitter Armando Alvarez went 3-for-5 with a home run of his own and a stolen base.  Alvarez has 13 home runs this season in 54 games at Sacramento, while hitting .316/.363/.591.
  • Starting pitcher Kai-Wei Teng went 5.0 innings, striking out eight while allowing two runs on two hits and three walks.  Teng’s eight strikeouts are his highest total since striking out 12 on August 1st.  That gives Teng 68 strikeouts with 31 walks in 52.2 innings at Sacramento.  He had 68 strikeouts to 20 walks in 47.1 innings at Richmond before this.

  • Second baseman Jimmy Glowenke picked up a double, going 1-for-3 with a walk on the game.  Glowenke has 11 doubles and five home runs in 55 games, with 23 walks to 44 strikeouts, with a batting line of .234/.332/.375.
  • Starting pitcher Ryan Murphy gave up two runs in 5.0 innings, off of three hits and a walk, with two strikeouts.  Murphy has a 4.57 ERA with 90 strikeouts to 43 walks in 88.2 innings.

  • Catcher Zach Morgan had the only home run in this blowout, going 3-for-4 with the home run and a walk.  That’s Morgan’s second home run after 16 games in Eugene, while he’d previously had four home run in 59 games.  He’s hitting .345/.379/.527 in High-A.
  • Center fielder Carter Howell went 3-for-6 with a double.  Howell has two 3-hit games in the month of August, where he’s hitting .329/.398/.481 with six doubles and two home runs.  Overall in High-A, he’s hitting .265/.344/.404 with 16 doubles, four triples, and four home runs, with 29 walks to 58 strikeouts.
  • Left fielder Tanner O’Tremba made his High-A debut, going 1-for-4 with a walk, hitting a triple.  In 82 games at San Jose before his promotion, he hit .271/.404/.438 with 21 doubles, two triples, and eight home runs.
  • Designated hitter Andrew Kachel also made his High-A debut, going 2-for-5 with a double and a strikeout.  Before his promotion, Kachel hit .289/.376/.437 in 78 games, with 20 doubles, two triples, and six home runs.
  • Starting pitcher Trevor McDonald had another shutout game, going 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and one HBP, while striking out five.  That’s five straight games without allowing an earned run (one earned allowed) in five games since his return from injury.  In six games with Eugene total, he’s allowed one earned run in 24.0 innings, with 23 strikeouts to five walks, and 15 hits allowed.

  • Shortstop Diego Velasquez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a HBP, hitting a double.  That’s Velasquez’s thirtieth double of the season in 101 games at San Jose.  He’s hitting .309/.395/.445 on the season in San Jose.
