AAA: Sacramento 6, El Paso 3


Sacramento Notes:

  • Jason Vosler hit his third home run in six games since returning to Triple-A.  He now has 10 in Sacramento (34 games) and 3 in San Francisco (40 games).
  • Joe McCarthy hit his 15th home run of the season, and is one home run away from doubling his previous season high.
  • Chadwick Tromp hit his first home run since June 27th, giving him his 6th Triple-A home run (36 games), on top of one hit in eight games in the majors.
  • Bryce Johnson hit his second double in his last three games.  Johnson has only played three games since the start of the month, but is 6-for-14 (.429) with two doubles and a home run in those games.
  • Heliot Ramos picked up his second double in the last five games, giving him five in Triple-A
  • Free agent Logan Ondrusek made his Giants organization debut, just missing going five innings.  The 36-year old was last seen in 2019 , where he had a 6.80 EA across Double-A and Triple-A.

AA: Richmond 1, Reading 0


Richmond Notes:

  • David Villar picked up his 16th double, the only extra-base hit for the Squirrels in this game.  The double was his first extra-base hit since July 27th.
  • Simon Whiteman picked up his 14th steal in 15 attempts in Double-A, and now has at least one hit in every game in August.
  • Akeel Morris made his return to Richmond from Triple-A, where he’d struggled to a 10.23 ERA, and had a shutout start.  It still only lowered his Double-A from 10.80 to 7.45.

High-A: Eugene 2, Tri-City 0


Eugene Notes:

  • Sean Roby hit his 12th home run, knocking in the game’s only runs in the first.  He’s hit 3 home runs in his last five games, and is batting .444/.483/.889 in August.
  • Ismael Munguia had yet another multi-hit game, with his 16th double and raising his batting average to .308 on the season.  Over his last seven games, he’s had multiple hits in six.  He’s 19-for-34 (.559) with five doubles, a triple, and two home runs.
  • Tyler Fitzgerald followed up his cycle with a 2-for-3 day, further bumping up his batting average to .282.
  • Jake Dahlberg’s third start with the Giants organization was by far his best, his first shutout of the season.  He still have a 5.79 ERA, but has 22 strikeouts to one walk in 14.0 innings.
  • Chris Wright had another scoreless appearance.  He hasn’t allowed a run since June 22nd, a span of 12 appearances.

Low-A: Fresno 3, San Jose 1


San Jose Notes:

  • Jairo Pomares had his second consecutive 2-hit game, and picked up his 12th home run of the season while doing so.  He’s batting .364/.425/.676 in San Jose.
  • With his double on Saturday, Luis Toribio is 6-for-21 (.286) with two doubles and a home run so far in August.  He has 15 doubles, a triple, and five home runs.
  • Ty Weber made his second start of the season, giving up a season-high six hits, and just his second home run in 41.0 innings in Low-A.  He also gave up just his third walk, with 45 strikeouts.

ACL: ACL Giants Orange 2, ACL Giants Black 1


ACL Giants Black Notes:

  • Diego Velasquez was the only player on his team to get a hit.  He’s 6-for-16 (.375) after five games in August, but is batting just .222 overall.
  • Nick Swiney had his longest start since coming back from his injury at 2.0 innings.  He struck out five of the seven batters he faced.
  • Rafael Martinez worked in relief after Swiney’s rehab start, after having started five of his seven appearances.  The 3.0 innings was his shortest appearance of the year.

ACL Giants Orange Notes:

  • Adrian Sugastey had his second straight game with 2 hits, with his fourth double of the summer.  He’s batting .354/.393/.439.
  • Aeverson Arteaga bounced back from a hitless game to pick up another single, but his 1-for-3 day was actually slightly lowering his batting average, which is at .343.
  • Manuel Mercedes went six scoreless innings in his last start, and now went four more without allowing a hit.  On the season, he had 34 strikeouts in 33.1 innings, with 14 walks.
  • Blake Rivera’s rehab continued with two innings of scoreless baseball.  In 3.0 innings in the ACL, he’s allowed one hit and two walks with six strikeouts.
